Product Information
Robopon 2: Cross Version, one of a two-part sequel to the original Robopon, requires you to collect, build, and develop robot creatures with special abilities to battle opponents, and features gameplay similar to popular titles like Pokémon and Digimon. You can collect more than 180 Robopons, and the RPG adventure is more than three times the size of the original game, offering new characters and powers. Different from the Ring Version, Robopon 2: Cross Version emphasizes battles as a means to raise the power of Robopons and utilizes more Boot-type robots that rely on abilities learned rather than equipped parts.

Your character, while heading for another tournament, is shipwrecked on Majiko Island where trouble is brewing. With help from old friends like Dr. Disc, he goes on a time-traveling quest to deal with the dastardly Dr. Zero and Maskman. As in similar games, the hero (you can name him) enhances and builds creatures to fight against enemies who lurk in dungeons or caves, or who challenge him during exploration. Up to four Robopons take part in the turn-based battles, with experience, money, and batteries awarded for victory.

You create Robopons by combining and sparking batteries, then upgrade them with software. Arm, Move, and Boot-type Robopons utilize attack power, agility, and transportation, and high offensive or defensive capabilities respectively. Equipping parts found throughout the adventure affects attack and defense powers, while installing software upgrades lets the robots learn new techniques. Boot-types can only develop by leveling up, an aspect that adds difficulty to the Cross Version since they're more prevalent.

In some cases, combining the same batteries will create different characters in the two versions, but eventually all will be available. Up to ten spirit-helpers may crop up as gameplay advances, with three secret spirit-types unique to each version. Multiplayer elements include being able to battle an opponent through a link cable for Robopon supremacy, and using Spark Mode to combine batteries to create rare Robopons, with each player receiving a copy.

Four multiplayer mini-games, Jumper, Puncher, Itemaze, and Battler, allow players to compete using two Game Boy Advance systems and two game packs with a link cable. Up to four systems and three cables are needed for Panel Attack 27 and 4Tune Battle.Product Identifiers
