This was an experiment
I have been using 11-50s with a plain 3rd string tuned down to D "standard" on my electrics, which I like a lot. I have been using 12-54s tuned down to C# on my acoustics with good results, also. I thought, "What if I put 11-52s on my acoustics and tune them to D, too?" Then all my guitars will be tuned the same. I wasn't crazy about the feel of the 11-52s on an acoustic in D standard. It's not the strings fault in any way. I just like 12s at C# better even though that leaves my guitars tuned to even more non-standard tunings than they might have been.
I have been using D'Addario strings since I was knee-high to a cock-a-poo and the 12s I put back on were . . . you guessed it D'Addarios. These 11-52 strings would be ideal for someone wanting a lighter touch in E standard tuning.
