The Western Digital Caviar hard drive is a good quality hard drive indeed. So far as of a few weeks it works well and is the third Western Digital Drive I have owned. The first two I had lasted seven years and no hiccups. Western Digital makes one of the best hard drives around in terms of durability. Great for a smaller main drive or a backup drive. This is a good, solid investment, indeed.
If you use external hard drives like I do, then the 80-120GB internal hard drive is the way to go. 40-60GB's might be a little too small, and anything bigger than 120GB might be just too big. I decided to go on the small end of perfection with this 80GB HDD. BTW my external HDD is 1TB and it just does it for me too.
I installed the replacement hard drive. It worked fine at first. Then after about three days, the drive caught fire and I had to get it replaced with a similar drive. It was the same type of drive that I had replaced and quit before. I ordered another drive just like this one. So far, I have had it for about three days and it is working fine. I believe the company must have problems with this type of drive going out frequently. I do not trust to use it for any important work.
I needed a good quality drive for testing. I didn't care that I only had 80 Gigabytes. I checked the drive with SMART and then used it for a new operating system. Everything worked fine.
Yes! Buy it. It isn't the latest and the greatest, but...if you want reliability and storage without glitches; this could be just the answer.
