Running a couple of hardwired ethernet cables through the house, along with the computer and a couple of Obi devices used up my four router ports. This switch was the perfect solution. Just plug it in and hook one router port and your other ethernet cables to it. It effectively converts four open router ports to seven open ports for your non-wifi devices. I also bought a spare, in case I want to use two or more devices at the end of one of the remote ethernet runs. Except for having indicator lights to tell which ports are active, it is about as simple as a cube tap for an electrical outlet.
