Dark Souls is one of those one in a thousand games. It's one of the most challenging dark fantasy games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. It's controls, while a bit difficult to adjust to, are perfectly adequate and serve their purpose. The challenge, I feel like it's redundant to say how difficult this game can be, is learning how to act and react without consequence. This is a great game for anyone wanting a challenge, or just curious about the franchise. It's hard, but rewarding.

Nearly identical visually and in gameplay to its predecessor Demon's Souls, Dark Souls improves upon the formula in some areas while falling short in others. Reasons an action RPG fan should definitely play this include well executed third-person combat, loads of weapons, armor and spells, excellent design and art direction, and decent replay value (thanks in part to seamlessly implemented, sometimes patchy multiplayer). Of course, when a game so closely resembles the experience of the developers previous work, improvements and failings are more easily detected. My complaint here are the integral bosses encountered throughout Dark Souls. Besides a few exceptions, overall they're not as memorable or challenging compared to Demon's. Of course, game mechanics such as the resource governing how many spells can be cast were re-engineered with positive results. And with several issues present at launch now patched, I'd consider Dark Souls definitely worth the money.Read full review
DVD plays great on my Xbox360. Good graphics for 2011 game. Takes some time to figure out the many aspects of this RPG but I like the gameplay .

Such a GREAT game! I always find myself coming back to play this. I’ve beat the game multiple times with different characters and different builds. It’s always fun coming back to this game. Death never eludes me and it always a bitter sweet feeling. 10/10 one of the best games ever created.

This game looks promising and I'm still willing to give it a chance but HOLY CRAP is it HARD!!! The way the game is designed is great, graphics are amazing, some quirky things with the equip screen (I put a sword in his right hand but it doesn't equip unless I use the second slot? weird) There are two major problems with this game. 1)The most basic of enemies like a freaken Skeleton can annihilate u in just a couple hits. The worst feature is the stamina guage which gives enemies like this a huge advantage. If your fighting more than 1 Skeleton, they swing at you and your shield just flings outta the way and you're vulnerable to attacks. You will die. 2)When u run around killing all these enemies and need to return to a fire to restore all your health, doing so results in EVERY ENEMY YOU KILLED BEING BACK IN THE SAME SPOT THEY WERE AS IF YOU NEVER KILLED THEM. You've got to be kidding me. I spent 25min killing flaming arrow shooting Skeletons, spear wielding freaks, and more and for what...so they can just pop back up because I sit at a freaken fire to restore all the damage they just caused! OMFG. Oh and while I'm at it there's a 3rd problem. 3)There's no real direction in this game so it lets you freely explore anywhere you want to go. Great feature...oh wait unless you happen to run into these INSANELY strong randomly placed enemies somewhere! I was kickin butt for like 20 minutes and found a staircase in this castle, collected a ton of souls to this point(which you lose if you die) and decended the staircase ONLY TO RUN INTO A CHARGING ENEMY THAT KILLS YOU WITH ONE SWIPE OF HIS SWORD...WTF are you kidding me. Dying and returning to the same spot to retreive your souls happens a lot, but if you happen to make a wrong turn and an enemy like this kills you, your screwed. You'll never get the souls back and may be killed by something trying to get back there anyway so whats the point...Has the potential to be a 5/5 but I just cant...the 2 hrs I played it for and I only progressed like 10 min into it...ughhh...(FYI I have over 260 games between PS2 PS3 Xbox 360 and Wii so I'm no rookie gamer...this game is no JOKE...Read full review
