The AMD Athlon 64 2650e (1.6GHz single core) plays nicely with Linux Mint 17.3 64 bit and 1GB RAM. I used this CPU in a low-spec testing rig to see how low the specs can go with a modern OS. At only 1.6GHz, the AMD Athlon 64 2650e performed better than expected. I used it with a Nvidia GT 610 graphics card and ran some old games: ZDoom with the Brutal Doom mod, Quake via QuakeSpasm, and Quake III via ioQuake3 all ran great. Some 2D indie games ran pretty good too, like Retro City Rampage. Old arcade ports from SNK/Neo Geo: Garou MOTW, King of Fighters 2002, Metal Slug 3...ran dang good as well. The 2650e is a good start to a 'retro gaming' rig.

It works great no problems with it at all. I was able to use it to get an old pc up and running.

It has worked well for me so far.I bought it because a friend recommended it and the price was another attractive factor.
