To be honest, I only play the first one on this port, many people have said 2 is very good, but yave not played it yet. This is a review of the first one. This game is extremely good, no matter how many people brag on it, it still seems very underappreciated to me, compared to games like Final Fantasy. This game is for all ages, don't listen to people who say only those from the 80s generation can enjoy it, I'm a 19 year old and I enjoy everything aboit this game. For 1988, the graphics are amazing, they are very colorful and clear sprites, and the music is very catchy, never got tired of hearing any themes. This game is revolutionary in it's time, most RPG's during that time feature a "save the princess" plot, this one features a very different story. Also it features one of the first female protagonists in a game, Alis Landale, and features first-person perspectives, and a 3D effect for the dungeons. If you are a Sega fan, a Phantasy Star fan, a GBA fan, or a fan of just good and classic RPGs in general, I highly recommend picking this collection up!Read full review

The Phantasy Star series is a belove SEGA staple and a precursor in many ways to the modern Final Fantasy series. These old school RPG's encompass the first 3 games of the series (Phantasy Star IV is not included unfortunately)and is a great game for those wanting to see the roots of the series or if you want a huge burst of nostalgia. The games are all intact with the original music and gameplay mechanics. The games are considered a bit slow by today's standards and require quite a bit of grinding (leveling up before entering dungeons) but overall they are very well balanced. The dungeons can be frustrating mainly due to designs...the original Phantasy Star 1 has 3-D Dungeons that are explored in First Person mode, though the rest of the game is in overhead view. Phantasy Star II has one of the best storylines and plot progressions in the series is often considered the best of the series. The dungeons can be extremely frustrating and definitely require some maps found online. Finally, Phantasy Star III utilizes a generational element where you choose a bride at the end and your adventure is continued with your offspring, it therefore has many endings and paths to choose from. Overall this is a great collection that will easily provide almost 60-80 hours of enjoyment if you can stick with it to the end. I highly recommend these games for fans of Old School RPG's and for RPG fans looking for something with a science fiction flare instead of just the regular swords and sorcery as the Phantasy Star series includes cyborgs, talking cats, robots galore, and vehicles to explore the worlds. If you are a fan of the older Final Fantasy games and you missed out on Phantasy Star 1-3 you should give this collection a chance.Read full review
Originally I started out with Phantasy Star 4 on the Sega Genesis. I liked it so much that when they came out with the sega genesis collection on the playsation 2 I got it because it included Phantasy star 2 and 3. I loved how the story interconnects between one Phantasy Star game and the next. The only one I was unable to play was the original Phantasy Star but with this collection I was finally able to play it. I can say with assurance that the Phantasy Star series is one of the best rpg series i've played for the simple reason that you will notice the changes from one game to the next. For example in Phantasy Star 1 you start out on the planet Palma. In Phantasy Star 2 you destroy the planet Palma, and then in Phantasy Star 4 you return to the rubble of the planet to fight an old reincarnated enemy from the first Phantasy Star game. Now when viewing each Phantasy star as an individual the best is Phantasy Star 4. The only thing I didn't like about this game was that I had to play it on such a small screen, but it was well worth it to finally finish all the missing puzzles pieces of the story. Also, its good value wise, buying the original system for Phantasy Star 1 and then the game costs over $100, the other 3 games are all on a different system, so if you wanted the originals you would have to get that system as well plus all 3 games and that gets pricy. The collections are much much cheaper for no difference in the game itself.Read full review
I had picked up this game because I had played the originals a long time ago and fell in love with them. To start off with, Phantasy Star 4 seems to be the fan favorite in the series yet they dropped it from the US release of this game and that puzzles me. The games however look and play great, even on a scaled down screen. The only issue I had with these games is that they did not do a very good job with the music. The ports have a tinny sound to them, for 2 and 3 it is not too noticeable but for Phantasy Star 1 it makes it almost impossible to play with the volume on without wanting to tear your ears off. I would recommend this port to a friend for sure.
A nice game. It was an awesome pick. I really enjoyed it.

How could any RPG gamer not have already bought this game? It has three classic games in one tiny cart! So many hours of entertainment for such a little price! These are some very in-depth and intricate old-school games! If you like Final Fantasy or Dragon Warrior, you will want to buy this game. Plus, you can play it on your TV with the proper adapter. A must have buy!
I love this game!! The game play is great for any RPG collector and is a must to have in their collection. The game features Fantasy Star 1, 2, and 3 in one cartridge with over 40 hours of game play. Once you get the hold of the game, you wont turn of your GBA, SP, or DS for a second.
It’s working out well. Thank you.

I love being able to play Phantasy Star 2 anywhere I go. This is such a good game. AND having Phantasy Star and Phantasy Star 3 isn't bad either. More games to play is always good. But I just bought this to have Phantasy Star 2 really.
I don't play this game. Bought it for my grandson. BUT I told the seller I really needed it for Christmas...it was last minute. I never thought I would get it in time but I did. Great seller.
