  • Better than the 211z

Purchased this because idiots at Dish Network sent a VIP211z receiver for the installer to put in my living room. News Flash: It has no place to plug in a phone line and will not receive the "Dish Home" channel 100. Owning my own receiver will save me a few bucks a month and the VIP211k has all the functions you will need. I paid my local installer to setup my 211k receiver-It's great. Now if someone was to come out with a "BackLit Buttons" remote control for the Dish Network that would be something!! I have to use a flashlight to see the control buttons in the dark. I guess the same idiots that approved the 211z receiver approved the IR remote control as well. Enough Said.

  • Small size with great features

The Dish VIP211K is a very nice single receiver. It has a small footprint and lots of features. A nice feature is that it will pass through the off-air antenna signal when the receiver is off. Nice touch!

  • Best of the Dish Network receivers for RV use

One of the best receivers for RV use that also can be used at home as a full function Dish receiver. It syncs quickly and will even work with in-motion dish compatible dishes. The 211k offers features and full connectivity that the other Dish receivers do not . The 211k will interface with HDMI, component, s-video, composite and coaxial outputs that are not included in the newer units. Plus you can add a small external HDD via the USB connector and you can schedule, record and play stored programming. I simply remove the unit from my RV bring it into the house and use it on one of my TV's, when I am out on the road I move it to my RV and can use it without additional monthly charges. About the only negative comment I could make about this unit is that it does run a little warm so install it in a location with decent ventilation.

  • VIP 211K

This is a much better receiver than the 211Z. It has a tuner that allows use of broadcast signals. The guide even works on broadcast. There are more jack choices on the back which allow you to hook-up a second TV and even a third that will be standard def. RCA jacks for stereo hook-up. Last but not least the receiver works great in high def.

  • More options than ViP 211z

I chose the ViP 211K over the ViP 211z because of the option to use a co-ax or HDMI cable. I was initially told we would get our 'home' locals when we were traveling, but our dish (Tailgator) wasn't picking them up out of state. I contacted DishNetwork and gave them the ZIP code where we were camping. They pushed the area locals out to us. You have to call back when you return home, because it changes your home programming too. I would recommend this receiver to friends & family.

  • Good second reciever

Bought this to use after I quit dish to be able to watch all the stuff I recorded on my external drive. I lease a VIP722k. When I leave and send back the 722 I want to keep the recorded movies I have. I went through the setup and the authorization with Dish and the VIP211k works like new as it should. Only problem for me is that the two units, though both able to use an external drive do not create a compatible drive. Each unit wants to format the drive. For me to get my needs met, I will need to acquire a 722 to own after I leave Dish. Again the VIP211k is great, and a great price point. You can't go wrong on this deal if you want to replace a 211 or if you just need a decoder for a second location.

  • Retired Dish Network Retailer

I am avtually semi-retired. This is great HD reciever, for the money. I've sold two of them, they are doing well. And my customers, who won't let me retire, are very happy, I just wish they would leave the price at $65.00. I think Dish Network did all the independent Retailers dirty. We worked hard to make dish what it is, and they pushed us out.

  • Remote "traveling" Dish Receiver

Purchase new. Works well, but not quite as easy to use as our home Dish receivers. Can not receive local stations as paid for and promised. Dish technical support is marginal at best. After numerous calls, have given up on receiving local stations... we end up going to a sports bar when we want to watch our NFL team, obviously not something we should have to do!

  • OTA Antenna Input

One of the last receivers that has a separate input for an OTA antenna. Newer models require purchasing an additional tuner from Dish, costing more than $60. This model replaced a VIP211Z. I can now get my local OTA channels plus no leased equipment fee.

  • Installer was more of the problem than the receiver. Receiver works great!! Needed more detailed instructions than what I received.

Basically what was written above were the main issues and the fact that we are in a canyon and reception is pretty bad already, we needed all the hekp we could get!!!
