I bought this lens for Pentax to use with film and digital bodies. I have MZ-6 film camera and also K100D, K20D and K-30. This lens is quite fast with K-30 and fast enough for other digital bodies. It was possible to capture birds' flight without any blur. Picture quality is astonished me for these bargain USD500 I paid. Somebody said - it is not a perfect FA*80-200/2.8, but that one costs 3-4 times more! And the gap is not so big, as it seems. Chromatic aberrations can be resolved in any graphic converter, and this is the only significient moment at /2.8. Issue, known as 'Tokina glow' is also not a big problem for this lens, if you take care about the light and use hood. Both minuses also dissolved, if you stop down for /3.5 even. "It's built like a tank and weighs almost as much as one." Well. If you'll try to compare it with this famous FA*80-200... OOPS! - 'The Star' weights more, despite the more subtile form! And yes, that's true - this lens is practically unbreakable and will serve you decades. Take it in your hands - it feels like you have an Ultimate Weapon, made especially for you. I'm really pleased to have this excellent lens. Hope, you too.Read full review
I bought this lens to use with my Nikon D90. The main purpose was for shooting indoors at dog shows, trying to get clear movement when the dog is moved for the judge. Well, it works!!!! This lens is so fast, it captured the dog without a blur. What a bargain compared to the much higher priced Nikon 80-200 f/2.8. I read and read the reviews. Everyone said, be careful this lens wouldn't work with all digital cameras. The only problem I find is if I move the apeture ring by mistake, then the lens won't work, you get an error. It needs to be on the green 22 to work automatically. A huge plus, but my only complaint so far is that it's built like a tank and weighs almost as much as one. It's pretty heavy and adds considerable weight to your bag, so be ready for that. I can't compare directly to the Nikon lens having never owned it, but am very happy that I got this one! I have owned two other Tokinas with my film Nikon FM, so I'm really not surprised with the excellent quality of this lens.Read full review
This is a tank. A well made, sharp and durable tank of a lens. The build quality is superb and the price is quite good on Ebay for such a lens. Yes it is older but a super option for an Alpha mount or an E-mount with Alpha Adapter. Read the reviews and do your own research to verify this information. Thanks and good luck.

Lens works fine, it's smaller than other manufacturer's similar products but it's still lheavier. Used with an Alpha 77 II body and AF tends to hunt in low light, noisy motor. Solid build, excelent quality and a bargain for the price.

I purchased this because I wanted a well built f2.8 80(or 70)-200mm zoom that was a lot less expensive than the $1400-$1500 that the new better quality after market 70 -200mm. I am more than pleased, focus is quick, image quality excellent. I made the right choice, now to sell my 70-210, f4.
