This ultra telephoto zoom lens covers a range of focal lengths from 50mm to 500mm ultra telephoto. This lens is equipped with Sigma's unique OS (Optical Stabilizer) function. This system enables hand held photography for many types of subjects such as motor sports, airplanes, close-up and wildlife. Four SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide excellent correction of color aberration throughout the entire zoom range. Incorporation of HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures quiet and high speed AF, while allowing full-time manual focus override.

What a zoom lense
this a wonderful lens the image stabilization works exceptionally well. This lens is easy to use with great opticss, I really love this lens for wildlife pictures.

Actually the other review must not have looked at side by side photos.. at 500mm shot at f8 the lens is about as sharp as any 500mm prime lens at f8. you would need to go 10x or more like 35x to begin to see any real difference. You can print 20x30 with no worries
