This is one very serious look into history. It outlines the plans and destiny of common people dedicated to a cause of social signifigance in ancient China. I loved the way the director kept the main character, the "Cause" central to everything that transpires in the film. No one individual ever steals the show, it always remains the cause for which they fight and sometimes die. I purchased the film with the belief that i would see Donnie Yen rise from the ashes and kick the crap out of evil doer's who deserve to die. I was humbled and educated about character and China as I watched this destined to be an epic film. The cast was outstanding in their portrayls of poor men and women who just want the best for their country and make sacrifices that are unheard of in achieving their goal. I was very impressed with the woman who played the youngest of the rebel's at age sixteen (16). Her dedication to a dream that belonged ot her father was the epitamy of devotion to country, family and self. She was but one of many who captured the heart. This is a film for the ages! It will be compared to mant a classic once we get over the belief that no great films are made outside the United States. I have watched this film more than once and have shown it to my grandchildren to let them know that all people matter and that dedication to beliefs can bring change. The history of the world is a wonder to behold and the countries we live in today were all molded by pioneers with vision. The legacy we now enjoy came at a terrible price. What will we pay to ensure to our off spring the promise of a secure future? The next saga of this film rests in our hands.Read full review
