Best Scrooge version ever! Unfortunately, the VCI so-called remastered/restored version SUCKS! The blacks are way too black, taking many shades of gray with them. The whites are unnaturally overblown. The contrast between dark and light is too extreme; you can't get rid of the problem with TV adjustments. I have this movie in both B&W and Colour from a remastered/restored version from back in the late 90s, very early 2000s. The definition is not as good as this so-called remastered Blu Ray version by VCI, but the grey shades are accurate and the colourized version is very, very good. I also bought a colourized “Remastered” copy of the VCI version on DVD the year before; it suffers the same issues - overblown whites and blacks/greys are all too black. I also bought a used copy of the “Emerald” version in B&W. It too is much better than the VCI version as regards more accurate shades of grey. The picture quality is quite good (for a 70 year old film on DVD, that is). I would like to find a colourized copy of the Emerald version, is such a thing exists.Read full review

Probably one of the best, if not THEE best versions of this famous Dickens story. The real added plus is that this DVD includes parts that are never shown on television. I loved it The seller was terrific as well !

I have always favored Alistair Sim’s portrayal of Scrooge, I felt he truly had a grasp of Scrooge’s transformation from miser to saintly old gent. I can highly recommend this dvd as top notch and worthy of ownership!
