I frequently upgrade laptops and one upgrade that I particularly find cost effective is to replace the Sempron with a Turion. This 1.8GHz Turion costs around $7-10 and will process video much much better than the Sempron will. This means you can watch a DVD without the video pauses or artifacts which occur with the Sempron. They run about the same temperature too. No change in BIOS is necessary just swap the cpu and boot it! They are from the same cpu family. Be sure to add memory up to 2GB for Windows XP 32 bit OS to help out the Turion! Also be sure to NOT exceed the motherboard's capacity on the cpu. If you replace a 1.8GHz with a 1.8GHz you're safe. If increasing the cpu to say 2.0GHz you should check with the laptop manufacturer to be sure the motherboard will accept it. For details on most processors you can go to www.cpu-world.com to get comparative information including info on compatible motherboards on a site link on the home page. Enjoy!Read full review
Very good product. Description was accurate. I decided to take a chance with this buyer but will probably not ever buy from again. I realize I should comment on the good points of this sale but not having a ship receiving option has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. Our economy basically sucks at this time, and not giving a working person any options, just dictating, or in essence micromanaging the situation does not sit well with me. I apologize if my comments are inapropriate but this is how I feel. Sorry....
I have not installed this processor yet, because I can not figure out how to update my BIOS on my Asus K8v-x se rev 1.03 socket 754 motherboard

Works really well and much faster than the old Sempron in my Compaq V5000.
