I purchased this motherboard to compliment an I7-870k processor, around a year ago. The board is very reasonably priced, and comes from one of the most trustworthy oem manufacturers available, ASUS. The mobo, while a bit dated, brings a slew of exceptional features to the table above and beyond what one could expect for $100. I was very impressed with the 16gb ddr3 capacity, 1156 socket support, crossfire graphics card support, and 6 channels of sata 3,including 1 sata 6gb port. For gamers, it's an excellent choice. Though not cutting edge, it's at the upper end of performance and allows running every title I can think of at ultra settings, and 1080p resolution. The best part though, is the inclusion of Asus very own overclocking Bios. I consider it to be one of the easiest and most user friendly available for its time, giving full control over cpu speed, under/over voting, 3 ways to do so, and dram overclocking as well. For those new to overclocking, the cpu level up feature will be invaluable. My only complaint is the lack of more sata 6 ports and on board graphics (no hdmi or vga, really?). Other than that, it's an amazing mobo for the money!Read full review
Fantastic conditon packaged very well! all dimms work perfectly. I recommend this to anyone that still have a socket 1156 CPU and is still happy with it. This motherboard can overclock the snots out of the first Gen i series cpu's as well as the Xeons. great buy!

I am a Gigabyte mobo freak. My original mobo was a Gigabyte P55A-ud3. It died and was replaced under warranty. I was not satisfied with the replacement board because it ran so slow and I could not OC my I7 870. I won the ASUS P7P55D on ebay "NEW". Although, I thought the board is a bit narrow and the layout is a little tight and it had only 2 PCI_e slots. It does have 6 xSata 3.0 Gb/s ports. This board is F-a-s-T! The BIOS is easy to navigate and comes with a few programs that makes overclocking even easier for beginners. I was able to OC my I7 870 to 4.2 GHz. At this late date I was extremely lucky to find any "new" P55 motherboard as they are scarce. I would recommend this board to anyone running the Lynnfield family of CPUs. The only real con is the I/O shield. It is very flimsy and difficult to set in place.!Read full review
This board was extremely easy to setup. Documentation was will laid-out and easily read. I installed a Core i3 CPU, 512MB video board, 4 GB DDR3. Fired up first time and ran noticeably faster than my old dual core.
Simple setup, almost no driver disc interaction required; Windows 7 provided all drivers except audio drivers which needed updating. Very stable, solid construction. A typical Asus homerun, as usual.
