I bought a Kindle HDX Fire 8.9" 4th Gen based on a CNET review saying it was just as good as the iPad Air 2 but cost over a hundred dollars less. I ended up sending the HDX Fire back. It wasn't horrible by any means, but it is not even remotely close to the iPad Air 2. If you are in the market for a full sized tablet, at the time of this writing, the iPad Air 2 is the best product. Graphics are rendered MUCH faster (sorry, I haven't the time to print out all the benchmark tests that numerically show what I see) and any game is much smoother. Most importantly to me, the iPad Air 2 has a superior ability to grab WiFi signals than the Fire HDX. Honestly, for browsing the internet, the two were equal ONLY when the iPad was using my cell provider for the internet and the HDX was on my 50mbps WiFi. I'm sure far better tablets will be released during 2016, but here at the beginning of 2016, the iPad Air 2 still is the best product.Read full review

The battery doesn't last as long as I am used to in iPads (this is my 4th). Perhaps because it is the cellular version and my last was wi-if only. The bigger issue is with the keyboard. It skips letters and doesn't put in my letters as fast as I type them. So I constantly have to go back and edit what I have written. I am a pretty fast typist, even with the touch pad keyboard, but you would think it could keep up with me. It is pretty frustrating and makes everything I do take longer. Also when I try to select a sentence or word to cut or copy, it doesn't easily make the selection. I have to push and push and push. Eventually it gets it but again, takes time and patience. My last iPad did not have that problem. Still a great product but those are problems I I hope they can improve before I need to buy another one.Read full review

I was working with a iPad Air and upgraded to the iPad Air 2--I use two very graphic intensive apps that lagged on the gen 1 air, that are now much smoother and responsive on the Air 2. I realize that's not quantitative, and if I could provide that data I would. Qualitatively, it's substantially better. Everything just happens noticeably quicker. The A8X definitely outshines the A7. The thiner profile is also noticeable and quite nice. Fingerprint recognition works better than my 5s as well. Haven't used Apple pay yet, and lastly the unlocked out of the box rocks. I travel to Europe and the ability to pop an new "Apple" sim in and pay as I go is totally worth the price of admission.

Fantastic bargain; easy to use; exceptional graphics; thin and lightweight. More features than one will ever use. Highly recommended. My wife uses it all day long, so needs to recharge it every night; we get about 10 hours from it.

It's the best. Together with a bluetooth keyboard/protective case it's convenient and does everything we want a pad to do. Apps are available for everything. Haven't yet used the cell feature, and will not activate unless we do extended travel trips.
