The Apple iPhone 4 - 16GB - Black (AT&T) is one of the best smartphones out there. Apple has managed to put a phone, organizer, calendar, news, iPod and games in one small advice. The iPhone 4 is very similar to the iPhone 3; however, is faster, lighter and has more capacity. Besides this, it looks nicer and comes in two different colors. Also, this generation of iPhone comes with new software developments, such as the iMessage or a function to let messages or e-mails read out loud. I have an Apple iPhone 4 as well and since then the organization of my life and every day activities is so much easier. I can always check my e-Mails and answer them, can always be reached or reach other people, look up traffic updates, the news and/or can be reminded on different events in my calendar. Furthermore, it is very easy to handle and the user has quick access to all different applications. It loads pretty quickly and even though I have dropped it a few times, it still works well. Also, with the iPhone 4 it is very easy to stay closely connected to friends and family who live out of the country as you can text them over the internet. One problem I believe the iPhone 4 has: The screen cracks very easily. I know many users who have a total cracked screen. After their screen was cracked it took a while for them to get it replaced and it was expensive. A lot of times, it was almost not worth to get the screen fixed because it was so expensive that it would have been better to just buy a new phone. Also, the menu button often stops working after a year of use or so. In general, fixing the iPhone 4 is quite expensive. Even though the iPhone 4 has some issues with breaking and cracking screens easily, I personally believe that this Phone is a very good phone. Especially right now you can get the iPhone 4 pretty cheap. I could not imagine my life right now without my iPhone 4.Read full review
The iphone 4 hands down has the best resolution display of any phone currently available on the market. Apart from this the ease of dealing with this device after opening the box is a definite plus. Also because of the popularity accessories and apps are readily available to download. Pros- 1) Easily syncs with outlook mail and other mail services 2) Retina display is very smooth and sharp 3) Touch screen is highly responsive 4) Screen orientation can be locked and apart from this has also a gyro and accelerometer 5) Smooth internet browser. The Dual camera is great for video chat 6) Mobileme helps locate your phone if lost or stolen 7) Hands free function was excellent on 3GS and is equally good on the 4. Many don't use it or are not aware of it. Keep the menu button pressed and you go to voice control. Just say "dial *name of person or est.* mobile or phone". Also the same control can be used for playing a music album which is great. If your accent is very thick you might have trouble though so keep it simple slow and clear. Cons: Apple as usual goes out of its way to keep you locked in to them and their hardware is not future proof which means buy it today and by tomorrow its obsolete. 1) Does not have a SD card slot so memory is fixed 2) No HDMI slot so can't fix to HDTV, however can be connected to TV through component cables. 3) The phone is locked down and thus limited to Apple itunes and its carrier. 4) Following 3GS you would think that they would bring this out as 4G but it is only a 3G phone. 5) Video chat (Face time as dubbed by Apple) is limited to WiFi only and not carrier internet service (lame if you ask me). Though probably the carrier cant handle the load anyway. 6) Biggest drawback is not Flash compatible and though many sites don't necessarily use flash, most of the popular sites and news services do. This in my books limits much of the internet surfing experiences. Conclusion: If this is your first phone you will undoubtedly fall in love with it. If your upgrading from the iphone 3GS then don't bother because functionality and user experience is the same. The only useful differentiating fact is the LED flash that comes with the iphone 4 which really helps when taking pictures in a night club. If your a tech geek you will find the phone though capable of so much more to be restrictive and will invariably Jail break it or try and unlock it some other way. Though I would suggest going for the new better Motorola Atrix. If your a businessman then this phone is perfect as it does virtually everything from push mail alert, checking on stocks, banking, powerpoint editing, word documents editing (though you have to buy the app. for $7 worth it i.e. Documents to go).Read full review
First, if you are trying to decide between iPhone 4 and 4S based on price, go ahead and get the 4. I have no desire to use Siri. My iPhone does everything that I need it to do and really Siri is the only difference between the two phones. If you buy an iPhone 4, it will have the new operating system. I have not upgraded to it yet. I've had my iPhone 4 for almost a year now and I purchased mine directly from AT&T. I have had a great experience with my phone. Before I switched to iPhone, I was a dedicated BlackBerry user. I have owned 4 BBs and I was really anti-Apple. I finally got tired of the lack of apps on BlackBerry and the outdated email interface and decided to switch. When I went to the store, the girl initially talked me into a Windows smartphone. That phone started freezing up on the very first day that I purchased it and some of the apps were unresponsive. I immediately took it back and got the iPhone 4 and I'm glad that I did. I've never had any problems with phone reception or slow loading speeds. I have gotten a few dropped calls, but I'm pretty sure that is due to AT&T's issues. I use this phone for EVERYTHING from navigation to calls and texts to keeping personal lists. I use apps related to health, my bills, banking, discussion forums, beauty, and more. The steepest curve was getting used to limited data usage. You can only use so much data per month. With other carriers and phones, I had unlimited data usage. During the months that I had access to Wi-Fi at home, school, or work, I never went over because I could use a Wi-Fi network for most of the day. However, during the times that I tried to stick only to 3G, I went over my data usage. The only thing that really caused me to go over my data usage (twice) was streaming music and video. But, like I said, it's usually not a problem. The feature that BB has over iPhone is easier texting. It can take a while to get used to iPhone texting and the lack of emoticons. There are emoticon apps, but only iPhone users can see the images. My iPhone email is super-fast and really convenient. I have 5 email accounts connected to my phone. I only load emails on accounts that I am using, if that makes sense - it doesn't load and store all of your emails unless you set it up that way. That would take up too much storage space on a 16GB. I've had my iPhone for about a year and overall, I am very happy with it. If you do make a purchase, don't forget to protect your investment with the right case and a screen protector.Read full review
Best iPhone yet! ALthough iOS4 is kinda feeling outdated. Unit weighs the same as the iPhone 3g/3gs but dimensions are smaller and narrower, making the unit feel heavier. The Retina display is super sharp and clear. Camera takes great pics and 720p video with tap to autofocus. FaceTime is great! Processing speed is fast. But the multitasking isn't perfect and not all apps support the feature yet. With so many smartphones on the market nowadays, mobile operating system loyality is best. I started with the original iPhone and have tried WebOS and Android. Both great mobile OS but i didn't want the hassle of providing my info just to have an account with em, argh! The next iPhone (iPhone 4g? And due to come out June 2011) is sure to have improvements and be a little better. But as for now, even with all its flaws, the iPhone 4 will be on top of everyone's choice as favorite smartphones... period.Read full review
FEATURES: -The iPhone 4 is a still very solid phone. With iOS, it is lightning fast and always reliable. The 5MP camera is great for pictures, and the 3.5 inch retina display screen displays THE best image quality you can get. With the release of iOS 5, you can now use the cloud to get all of your music and photos streamed right to your phone, and the use of the pull down notification bar makes it effortless to answer a text and get back to what you are working on. The app market is definitely ahead of Android as fair as app designs, the iPhones apps have more features and function much better. My only concern about the iPhone 4 is the antenna gate issue, which means if you hold it a certain way, it gets a horrible signal. Functions just fine if you have a case however. EASE OF USE: -As far as smartphones go, this is by far the easiest type of smartphone to use. Its simple. You want your messages, click on Messages. You want to browse the internet, click on Safari. You want your music, click on Music. The iPhone is laid out very well to make all the apps explainable by looking at them. And being an iPhone, its universal, so if you have used an iPhone in the past or use a friends, its going to be almost identical, which is wonderful. If this is going to be your first smartphone and you're not good with this, I think this will be by far the best smartphone to buy. BATTERY LIFE: -The battery life for this smartphone is amazing. Today, its virtually impossible to find a smartphone with better battery life. It can easily get me through a day of texting, calling, and a fair amount of web browsing. It takes about an hour and a half to charge from 20%. And the great thing is at the top, you can display the exact percentage of your battery left, so you are never left guessing if you need to charge now or later. VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY: -I find this the best smartphone for your money. Whenever I buy a smartphone, I look at three things: the features, the price, and the resell value. This phone has some of the best features of any smartphone. Look at the name "iPhone", its universal, legendary. The price is a lot of times cheaper than your new Droids will run you, and if you take a look, since there are less new iPhones coming out as apposed to new Android phones coming out, your iPhone will keep its resale value a lot better than your competing Android smart phones. CONCLUSION: This a a great phone for the money. Now, if you are looking at the 4S as well, I'll break down some of the differences for you. -The iPhone 4S has a 8MP camera that takes better pictures faster. -The iPhone 4S has Siri, the iPhone 4 doesn't. -The iPhone 4S is capable of 4G speeds on AT&T -The iPhone 4S doesn't have the antenna gate issue -The iPhone 4S has a faster processor (you won't really notice its faster though, unless you are being picky, or playing some very graphic intense games. -Suprisingly, the iPhone 4S battery dies faster than the iPhone 4. Hopefully this review will help some of you eBayers out there, happy bidding!Read full review
