I put this in a Peavey Cirrus bass Peavey Cirrus. The lows are powerful and warm, the highs are not shrill, but if turned all the way up do slightly hiss, no where near as bad as an Aguilar I had though. The real cool thing in this set up is the mid switch, down for low mid control, middle for mid mids, and up for high mids. I can go from a P-bass type sound in the low position, a Stringray type sound in the mid position (with the Mids turned all the way up), to a very clean and clear sound with it in the high position. I was looking at a 4 band EQ with high and low mids, I didn't think my cavity would hold six pots. In my opinion Bartolini Makes the the best preamps on the market for a couple reasons 1) They sound great. 2) They are the only preamp I have seen that has an adjustable gain (on the back the preamp, the little blue box on the picture) 3) Ease of installation. This was the first wiring mod I have tried myself. every thing you need besides a soldering iron is included and the whole thing is prewired. After playing this Bart, I put a Bartolini 2-band in a Marcus Miller Jazz bass that I had an Aguilar installed. I recommend both. The Barts are more expensive than most preamps but the to me well worth the money. If I get another bass and want a preamp I am going straight to Bartolini again.Read full review
