It may not have gigabit transfer speeds or SFP, but, if you don't need those kinds of speeds anyway, can find these on the cheap like I did ($20 w/ free shipping), and you need to hook up more than four devices to your router, then this item has absolutely unbeatable value. I mean, for $20, that's less than 50 cents per port. There are 5 port switches on this site for more than $50- a value that is, frankly, horrendous.

For the series it stills stands tall in the category of switches. It hasa the speed of regular switches and the management of it is in a variety of options giving the benefit to trunk do soft phones and a number of other things. The 48 ports unless you are doing a massive structure may be a little over kill. It does what it was made for and it is an austounding piece of hardware with the capability to use fiber and gigabit modules to improve its transfering of data.
We bough this for my company so that we can upgrade our network as it was becoming too slow. We were using and 24 port switch and we were running out of ports too. So far, I have not found any limitations of this switch besides that sometimes the web interface does not work.
