I really like the fact that this machine is fully automatic - starts the fermentation for the set number of hours, and then automatically switches to refrigeration to stop the fermentation and chill the yogurt to refrigerator temperatures. However, the actual making of the yogurt as had mixed results. I had to make 4 batches trying different times/cultures, etc before I finally hit on the right mix of ingredients, time and methods. I would give the unit a 5 star rating, but I think that it's misleading by stating how easy it is to make your yogurt. After researching, yogurt making is a finely tuned process and it takes several trial and errors before latching onto the right mix. My best results were using a dehydrated culture rather than store-bought plain yogurt. After hitting the right parameters, it is VERY convenient and saves a lot of money over buying pre-made yogurts. One final word: beware of all of the advertising pushing Greek Style yogurt - since it is just plain yogurt strained and most of the liquid removed, it is highly concentrated and therefore very high in calories. Yes, it's creamy and delicious, but very easy to gain weight if you don't watch portion control. In the end, I would highly recommend this yogurt maker over any other brand (I fully researched all of the alternatives), but just be aware that yogurt making is a fine art and will take practice before you reach the right recipe and method of making it. After that, the machine takes over the rest of the hassle of watching over times and temperatures.Read full review

I love yogurt! My doctor recently put me on a very restricted diet. Including commercial yogurt, due to the sugars, added colors, fake sweeteners, and all the preservatives. But, she said, you can make your own! So I love this machine, takes all of the guess work out of it. I do highly suggest that when your done making the yogurt that you strain it with a coffee filter, to make it thicker. Whole milk and goats milk turns out wonderful. I tried almond milk...did not work for me, watery and the color was odd.

Super easy to make yogurt, and it tastes much better than any store bought brand. The instructions on this machine are terrible. I followed them and it kept coming out bad. Googled 'how to' and found a much easier way. Worked perfectly after it. It's not the quietest machine but it's more like white noise than anything else.

This machine is just what we wanted to start learning to make yogurt. It is simple to operate. The instructions are not the best, but the web and others fill in advice and recommendations for us. The out put is somewhat small (one or two days of yogurt for us) but we are enjoying this machine and experience. We have recommended this product to friends.

I looked at these for a long time and finally took the plunge. I have used it once so far and these are my initial reactions. The first thing that struck me was that it is smaller than I expected. It will not accommodate a full half-gallon which is a bit inconvenient. However, it does significantly streamline the yogurt making process. You still need to warm and cool your milk before beginning the culturing, but the automatic cooling feature means that you can “set it and forget it.” The yogurt it produced is as good as that made by the more cumbersome crockpot method I’ve been doing, though not as much. Bottom line is that I would recommend this yogurt maker, if you can find one.
