Installed on Aug 15, 2018. Easy installation. Tested several times and it worked just fine. Allowed tailgate to drop upon opening and as it fell the assist caught and slowed the tailgate down to a slow soft drop. Wife also tested and was impressed as the tailgate was definitely easier for her to open. All parts were contained in package including thread lock. Instructions well illustrated.

What can I say that hasn’t be said already? I mean, it makes a heck of difference when lowering the gate, you won’t have to wince anymore at the possibility of dropping your tailgate. It does what it is supposed to do and it is easy to install. The not so good part about it is the tool (L shaped) that comes with it slips as it is too short and it is hard to use specially when the bolt it is trying to remove is tight. I know it is free but if you are going to provide something, might as well provide something that is usable. Nevertheless, the product itself is great!

Simple to install n it works really well. Sooooo nice to pop the tailgate n not have to lower it to avoid the big bang ! I installed it on my 2020 f150 stx which has a aluminum tailgate n is fairly light in weight. I'm unsure how well it would work on a steel tailgate. But it would beat nothing for sure.
