i buy one of these for each laptop. i clone it so i then have a backup in case the original hard drive crashes or becomes corrupted. they are cheap backup considering the alternatives. trying to get restore discs and driver discs is a hassle sometimes, these make it easy. just take out the old one and put this in. get a new big drive and clone this one onto the new one then switch them and you're back in business.
This is a great product and still sealed in the esd packaging. Ready to directly install into whatever device you are using with an ide connection. Responds as expected for an ata-100 device. SMART data is all within tolerances or zero. Definitely the choice for small devices that take this tiny little 1.8" drive package.
