Bios sees it after install. Caddy was missing so to substitute temporarily till my ordered caddy and rubber rails cam in. I used Popsicle sticks in place of the side rubber rails to secure the 2.5 mm spacing on the side of the drive. Running good on a 4.x series Linux kernel and makes this laptop a respectable unit now. Time will tell later if a reliable unit or not. It is new. So I expect good long life out of this hard drive. Regards, hapyrdr1Read full review

I used this drive to replace one in a laptop that had gone bad. It installed easily and Windows 7 loaded on it perfectly. The only issue I had was that it is a bit thinner than the original. I went to Walmart and purchased a sheet of thin foam rubber in the crafts department, cut a piece the same size as the drive, and placed it on top of the drive. That snugged it up and made for a solid fit.

Installed in an older Dell computer with no problems. Old laptop did not have a enough drive capacity for the latest software. Updated Windows and made a great backup laptop computer.
