You can control the KVM with Keyboard by pressing scroll lock twice and port number 1~4 and then return. You can also add HDMI to VGA converter to end of the cable so you can connect computers with HDMI output or TV boxes. Here are the drawbacks: It does not support switching the mic only the speaker! You can not cascade them, so use several to switch more computers or switch mic as well! In some computer if put them in suspend you need to press the power batten on the computer to bring it back up and you can not do it with keyboard or mouse.

IO Gear seems to be one of the better companies making these consumer grade KVM switches. I said it like that because you can spend hundreds of dollars for commercial grade switches that do no better than this one does. Quite simply this is the best one I have owned. Whats nice is it switches EVERY time, no fumbling or skips.. And a big bonus is the sound, I use headphones so the buzzing put out by the other makers was very annoying. Somehow IO Gear figured out a way to have no clicks, buzzing, or any other annoying sounds broadcast over my headphones, A+++ on that! The only negative I have (if I had to find one) would be the lack of a button to switch between computers. But on that note, to switch computers you just hit the 'scroll lock' 2 times in a row, you will see the keyboard lights flashing letting you know it was clicked fast enough and it's waiting for the next command. You can either hit 'enter' and it will go to the next computer in line, or hit any number from 1 to 4 then enter and it will go to that computer (control unit is numbered on back so you know which computer is plugged into 1, 2, 3, or 4).Read full review

I have had one of these KVM for many years. Just bought my second one. The are extremely reliable, and when connected to multiple PCs, detect which ones are one and only cycles to those. So if you have 4 pcs connected, but only two one at the time you do not have to cycle thru all 4. To cycle from one pc to another simply click scroll the 'enter' twice. Transfers keyboard and mouse control among pcs and video and audio outputs from pcs, keeping them all working together. I have used other KVMS through the years, and this IOGear has outlasted them all. Quality built and quality cabling.

I like these switches. We have two of them in the office and they do what they are supposed to do and switch quite fast. Biggest advantage in my view: A key combination gets you right to the computer you need to connect to. No cycling through computers, one by one.

It is bigger in size than I expected. You press scroll lock twice on the keyboard and enter to switch to the next source, or scroll lock x 2 then source number (1 - 4) and enter to switch to a specific source. It works flawlessly - and the keyboard leds rotate when the switching sequence is invoked - cool!
