This cpus is pretty much useless to all but a few. Original LGA775 motherboards only supported 800mhz fsb speed which limits you to literally around 8 cpu. However, after around 6 months every board made supported at least 1066 or 800 making your choices vastly larger in the core 2 range. The only reason to buy this is if you are one of the rare unfortuniate few who have these 775 first gen legacy boards. If you're using DDR2 and only support the lowest speeds of it chances are this is your case.

This processor is an upgrade over the slower Intel Pentium dual core e4600 that this cpu replaces is a huge difference. Everything is much faster now and everything works very well. The temps are just a little bit higher than normal but I can deal with that. I did expect that too. Installing it is quite easy and the motherboard was easily compattable with it with no problem even with it being an old 2007 HP home desktop pc for basic tasks. The use I have the computer doing is running a minecraft server with about 30 plugins an an average of 7 to 10 or more players per day. The pentium could not keep up when intensive things on the server began to occur. This processor can handle them easily and prevent the server from lagging too often. But now the only thing lagging the server is the amount of RAM the PC has. But a few small changes and it will be perfect. And because this processor was so cheap in price, I was able to easily buy it and swap it in for an extra noticeable performance boost. Quite a good CPU for now. Hopefully it will last! I think it will last a long time so far.Read full review

This E4600 CPU improved my DELL Optiplex 755MT approx. 27% over the stock E2180. I am unsure how large of a CPU could put into this DELL. The A11 bios seems to be locked; thus far, preventing an overclock.

Great product, runs cool and easy on the power bill without sacrificng performance, fast!, not a beast of a CPU , but still , FAST!. upgraded over an old p4 2.8 ghz , this cpu is like 5 times as fast. Great speed. It's an Intel Dual Core. What more is there to say?
I upgraded from a E2160 to this Speedy E4600 CPU & i can tell the difference immediately in performance but hold on .....now i see they have a modification out to convert DUO core to Quad core using the LGA 771 to LGA 775 modification strip i'm going for it found out doing this mod alone will allow even built in MOB graphics to play PC video games that is astonishing using these XEON Quad core built for servers
