I was happy when I got my CPU in the mail. I've wanted to upgrade my secondary machine for quite a while. It currently has a dual core CPU and since I'm using it as a server I wanted to upgrade to a quad core. So I rolled the dice and bought one on ebay. The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500 I got can't boot the operating system half the time. I've tried everything. I have two motherboards of the same type. Tried them both. I made sure that the bios is fully up to date. I replaced the battery on the motherboards. I tested the memory and tried several different operating systems on different SSD's. Simply put the problem is the CPU. It's not reliable. As soon as I plopped my old CPU in the system was stable and fine. Alas, I was sold a dud.

In comparison to the core two duo that is installed on Dell desktops to this CPU is awesum. Extremely fast and reliable. The computer went from 6.9 & 6.9 on the processor speed to 7.4 7.4. Graphics went from 3.1 to 3.8. The easy installation of the 2.84 GHz has boosted the performance and graphics on a mediocre Dell XPS 420 computer to an over drive mode that is fast and reliable on any Dell XPS 420 computer.

Easy to install, requires Thermal Paste, nice upgrade to what I had in a Dell Vostro 220.

The CPU arrived earlier than expected and everything feels smoother now, sorry but the other buyers don't know what they're talking about.
