I bought this to become my new desktop machine. I only take it out occasionally, such as for conventions or travel. It is lightening fast compared to my 3-year-old Toshiba. I used it with Adobe Premiere, Encore and After Effects. Rendering time was amazing! I know MS has faster machines for this, but considering I only make about 6 videos per year, it is plenty fast for me. Battery life is very good. I ran it for a few hours without power and it was still ready to go. Can't say how many hours to empty, but it is longer than what I usually need. Screen viewing angle is extremely good. I still haven't gotten Windows type to where I want it. Hopefully I can figure that out, but that isn't a Surface Pro issue. The docking station is very handy. and the keyboard has a nice touch. Overall very good for the money - provided you are buying it used. =DRead full review

I previouslyt ownd Ipad 2 and google nexus 9 wifi. This tablet computer is the best I've ever owned. You can use a docking station to connect to your monitor and use it as a full desktop pc. Way better than apple or google..you don;t have to struggle with MacOS-IOS or Chorome-android operating system hurdles. Just perfect..

While the entry level Surface Pro is a nice device it will never truly replace a laptop or a desktop. The entry level devices are way to limited on resources. Not enough memory or storage space to be truly useful for anything other than a go between for your laptop/desktop. Once you get to this level of storage and memory the Surface Pro really shines. With 8 Gig of RAM and 256/512 Gig of storage this becomes a truly useful machine. It is light enough to be truly portable. It is powerful enough to run any programs that a desktop/laptop will run. Add the docking station, an external keyboard, mouse and a monitor or two and this is easily a near perfect all-in-one device. The only downside to the Surface Pro is the keyboard is an additional cost and it is not useful without it.

Having such a small tablet replace my desktop, laptop, and tablet is amazing. It has the power and speed I was looking for. There are only minor issues with the heat, and fan noise that you'll need to be prepared for. Also, there are some minor quirks with Windows 10, but Microsoft has been fixing issues on a regular basis. Overall I highly recommend the product.

This laptop/tablet has been great! Compared to the iPad it's much more comfortable with the kickstand and i like the desktop option for some old school habits like organizing my music in media player. And running 2 apps at once has been very handy but unlike my Windows 8 laptop this has had much better handling since the OS is more tablet friendly. The only reason i don't feel it gets 5 stars is the lack of additional Usb ports and DVD reader. If I want to watch a movie I have to borrow my husband's laptop which he is using. Also when outside the US all the streaming apps like Netflix are useless. I haven't tried any real offline writing on it because it doesn't come with an Office equivalent and I worry about downloading since its a Windows. How that helps.
