OK, I have a small mill and a 6" Kurt CNC vise, which is almost perfect. Except it's really too big for my machine and on certain setups I can't get the tool into the work. I had a 4" vise with the mill but it was beat up and could not hold tolerance. After some research I bought the HFS 4" vise because it's occasional use for me and I am a hobbyest anyway. I could get the HFS parallelism on the fixed jaw is within 0.0003" on 4" jaw width which is the same as my Kurt. Tram on top of jaws sucks compared to Kurt but this is located on cap screws so adjustment is possible if need be. Adjustable jaws on both vises were far worse than fixed jaws, understandably. Form-fit-finish on this vise is not bad. Although they spell vise "vice" on the packaging. Not an uncommon error. Bottom line: for a homeowner/hobbyest, this will work (have not put under load so can't predict durability). If you are production CNC, probably makes sense to take a closer look.Read full review

This is a very good vise for the money. It is operationaly smooth and strong. The only "improvements" I would like to see are V-groves (and a square top grove) in the jaws and four bolts on the fixed jaw (instead of only two) and make them accessible from the top of the vise.

This is a good price for what you get. It’s more than adequate for light milling jobs. The manual is impossible to follow......replete with misspelled words and meaningless phases. Undoubtedly it’s much better than what I could do if I tried to write an instruction in Chinese!

I am really impressed with the massive build of this vise. Rotation of the base is a little rough but I have not disassymbled it as yet to see if there is simply some casting/machinning residue left behind. The bolts that are supplied with it to attach it to the saddle are waaaay too small to work and mine is between a bench-top and floor machine. Not much of a problem, though. Very pleased.

This 4" vice is of good quality for the price. If you are used to Kurt be warned it has shallow jaws compared to, but the fit and finish are respectable and the swivel base is a huge plus.
