THE GOOD: The Palm M505 is a nice PDA that fits nicely in your pocket and hand. It is intuative to use and the stylis provides prompt response when using the touch screen. The removable SD Memory card makes it easy to swap and store programs, spreadsheets, word documents, pictures and other files. The battery life is good. The processor is quick and large spreadsheets open smoothly and quickly. THE BAD: The screen is hard to read unless you use the backlight and then the battery life degrades very quickly. SUMMARY: The M505 is a good, entry level PDA with plenty of features. I bought this one for my oldest child because I had one before and knew what it was like. If you want a high quality PDA, I would recommend one of the "Tungsten" or newer series Palms. The screens are better lit, with higher resolution and has a longer battery life.Read full review
Not one of the fastest on the market but you get what you pay for. For the price your going to pay, this is a great deal especially if you are a medical student on a tight budget. This will run alot of medical, student, and EMT software and with the color display, you can't go wrong. Below is a few functions I liked about the Palm M505. Includes an MMC/SD slot that offers more flexibility and cheaper memory upgrades. Palm also bundles the Word and Excel versions of Documents to Go, allowing you to edit these files on the device. The m505 alert feature which vibrates. The vibration strength isn’t super strong, but I think it would get your attention if you had the m505 in your shirt pocket close to your body. You probably won’t notice it if you have it in a jacket pocket or in a thick caseh. I purchased this item to help keep track of my shopping lists, errands, etc. I picked the Palm type PDA because it could work with either a windows format OR a mac format which I have. This is the second PDA I purchased. The 1st was a Palm M500 which was great but it didn't have a color screen. This one, the M505 has a color screen. The ease with which you can "sync" the pda to your computer is wonderful. All you do is sit it on the "dock" where it can recharge and you can push a button to have it link to your computer and "sync" or coordinate the information from the pda to calendar information on your desktop. You don't have to enter the same information twice. It doesn't matter what information you entered or where, it will sync them together so both the PDA and your desktop show the same information. If your PDA didn't come with programming, don't worry. Palm has a wonderful website where you can load the information from. There are also websites that have programming to give your PDA the ability to track almost any type of information. Another great feature on the M505 is the ability to insert an SD card thereby giving you additional memory or another way to add programming. Palm makes a great item that is easy to learn and use.Read full review
GOOD: The Palm M505 is a nice PDA that fits nicely in your pocket and hand. The keys layout is intuative and the stylis provides prompt response when using the touch screen. The removable SD Memory card makes it easy to swap and store programs, spreadsheets, word documents, pictures and other files. The battery life is exceptional. The processor is quick and large spreadsheets open smoothly and quickly. THE BAD: The color screen is very milky and hard to read. It has a washed out look to it like it was white washed with paint. The resolution could be higher also. Both these things make using the M505 for extended periods difficult and frustrating. Going from the M505 back to your computer screen is like getting out of a Chevette and getting into a Cadillac as far as screen clarity. SUMMARY: The M505 is a nice PDA with plenty of features but lacks a nice screen and MP3 player capability. I will probably relist it on ebay as I also bought the Tungston T3 which is awesome in every respect.Read full review
