These units, while high quality require a firmware update to address compatability with certain blu rays. I don't think the unit I just got ever had its firmware updated as it was still on version 1.02. On firmware 1.02 the unit sucked.... probably why it was in such great condition....after updating to the most recent firmware(go to pioneers website for info, its very simple) it's been a very good unit that has not had any problems with any media thrown at it. Overall I'm pleased with the build quality and image quality, load times are a bit slow but that's to be expected on a Player of this age, I think its a decent trade as it compliments my Pioneer PDP 5080HD pretty well. Also it should be noted that this unit is known as a very good CD player due to the DAC's pioneer put into it and the 7.1 analog outputs.Read full review

Open this player up if you're in for a good laugh. Inferior build, it's a PC Blu Ray unit they hooked up to a couple of circuits. It's build like a cheap segment player. Totally not worth the full price back then . You see these players for 200usd on eBay. You can get lots better for that. Puny power supply and mediocre build, all hype nothing to show for it. See photo for a gut shot.

After updating to the most current firmwareon the blue ray player, I have not experienced any problems in playing blue ray disc or dvd's. The unit seems to take close to a minute to load up, but other than that, I am extremely happy with the unit. I've had the units for a couple of months and have experienced no problems. I also have the Pioneer SC 07 receiver and Polk speakers which I am also happy with. I spent several years researching before making my purchase. I think the quality is very good and well worth the money.
