Greetings, Our children are grown and out of the house. We are TRYING to down-size and a lot of my record collection 'has to go'. That being the case, many of my records are worth keeping and CD technology guarantees that they won't get any older. Now, I can sell many of the LPs & 45s and categorize them on CDs, as I work my way through. It's a labor of love; I'm really having fun. And I owe it all to the Pioneer PD-R 509. Thanks. I really appreciate the option of spacing the tracks by 3 seconds, just like the professional burners. I also like the fade-in & fade-out button. The ONLY (I mean this) ONLY drawback to this recorder, is some CD blanks are okay on another burner I've seen, but not on the Pioneer, even though I bought a Pioneer-approved brand of blank, that also includes music capability. I had to buy a stack of blanks that specify 'Music'. Oh, well. If, as and when this recorder will be un-fixable, I'll be in the market to buy another burner. Pioneer is going to get high marks from me, then, too. Thanks, again for wanting my feed-back. This recorder was well-taken care of before I bought it and I will continue to treat it respectfully.Read full review
I have owned 4 of these great devices. I like to make my own mixes of music, and don't like that some discs are louder than others. This recorder allows you to set the loudness of each track, or overall CD to the desired volume when recording tracks. Some discs have been mastered for sound loud, and some mastered for sound low. If you combine different tracks from different discs on one CD, this can be somewhat bothersome. This handy device ends that problem and gives you control of the sounds it records. A great and under estimated machine!!!!

This Pioneer recorder performs like all Pioneers do, flawlessly. I have owned other recorders and found them to be troublesome and and difficult to operate. The PD-R509 is easy to use and produces recordings much more dynamic than the average computer. This machine is also a workhorse, I use it for amateur production which involves a lot of stops and starts and the PD-R509 handles it no problem. Each track records a minimum of 4 seconds, so if you want to record a quick track less than 4 seconds the machine adds dead air time to equal the 4 seconds, a minor annoyance. The pause button is very responsive, it's makes it easy to index your tracks for manual recordings. Overall, I'm very happy with this Pioneer. If your looking for CD recorder, this is the one.
I'm loving this one. The sound quality is great and the CD Recorder is easy to use, even without an remote. It has multiple settings for inputs, plus easy hook up

The instructions really didn't help me. I have a DVD recorder that helped me to get acquainted with the recorder. I used a disc to get familiar with the recorder's functions. To finalize the disc, you of course have to press finalize but then you have to press the pause button for it to finalize the disc. After I experimented with the recorder, I now know how to use it. It works very well and does what I need it to do. I transfer records to cd and when you press pause after a song it automatically changes to the next track number so you don't have to do it manually. You can manually advance cd song numbers between songs on records. Very nice recorder!!!
