great blu-ray player..but end of DVD-R era as we know it..
Ok!!?? (sighing & shaking my head)..here we go..as far as a blu-ray player..it exceeds all expectations..1) it automatically upgrades any form of video to 1080p..(no matter what format it is)..you can also convert all video to digital format to be seen on anything that plays video..this is a one-stop video converter..it also allows the buyer to go fully to the internet..(yes..you can NOW go to any site with your bluray player)..& just like all of the players & TV's from 2010..the picture quality is excellent..not to mention..this player has 3 HDMI portas..(one for Video/Audio..& 2 designated for Audio..this means that if your Bluray give 8.1 surround sound..you'll get it..(laughing)..NOW!!!?? for the BAD news..LOL..ok..if you connect to the internet with your bluray player (or TV)..YOU'LL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO PLAY DVD-R's or CD-R's..when i put in a DVD-r for "Underwolrd"..it played for 1 minute..& then it gave me a screen saying "Universal Owns The Following Material & Can Not Play This Media Any Further"..(laughing)..now i've never tried it without hooking up to the internet..but WOW!!?? this is the beginning of the end for bootlegged DVD's and CD's..also..the remote on the player doesn't really provide the best movement of the mouse when you go to the internet..(you'll have to buy the bluetooth keyboard w/touchpad separately)..so the summary is this..i would NOT say that Samsung dropped the ball..(like they did last year)..BUT!!?? i can't give it a GOOD review either..i'll have to say average..the BAD outweighs the GOOD on this one..again..the 2010 TV's give the best picture ever..(i haven't looked at the 2012 ones yet..but if the bluray player is ANYTHING like the TV..i won't buy it)..so?? if you're going to get LEGITIMATE Bluray's & DVD's..this player will work for you immensely..but if you're like me..(a mixture of both)..then this Bluray isn't for you..just stick with the 2010 models of Samsung TV's & Bluray Players..again..thank you all for reading what i have to say..Peace..& God bless you & yours.. Good Unit, Not Great.
Overall pretty cool unit. Not good for internet. Too slow to even bother with. Wouldn't play some video formats from my hard drive, but would play most. If you have burned files, such as the ones from torrent downloading, be careful not to be connected to the internet. It may check the file and not play it due to licensing. I love the touch screen controls & sleek design. The USB in is the main reason I bought it. It works flawlessly, other than the issues I already described. I liked it so much I bought another one.
None could be better! Well, of course...It's a Samsung!
I love this Samsung BD-E6500 3D Blu-Ray player! It is just what I was looking for. I wanted a player that had WiFi to allow me to not only stream movies, etc., but to also surf the net. But the MAIN thing I wanted in a player was the ability to play my .avi movies I have downloaded. Most all of the brands will not do this, and I had heard that a "few" do, so I was looking for one that would. Previously, I had to convert each one to a DVD format and then burn it to a blank DVD. Now I can have 6 or 7 .avi movies all on one DVD and this player allows me to select which one I want to watch. Another great feature it that it has a USB port and you can access your media from there, with a flash drive, external hard drive, etc. This player was a little hard to figure out at first, as it came without a manual. But I found the manual for this model online and I downloaded it, then printed it, all 60 pages. That was a BIG help and from there it was all easy-peasy! The quality of the viewing is amazing. It will upgrade your standard resolution movies and jpeg files to 1080 resolution to make them SOO much more vivid and bright. I can not imagine any player being any better than this one. But a huge thing to consider is knowing how many brands do NOT have these great features. As I said earlier....I just LOVE this player! To the person, aweaponz, that gave such a bad, incorrect rating; I don't understand why you would go to the internet to try to play your DVDs. But if you are converting your boot-legged movies, you need to find a converting program that removes the copyright code. There are several free ones available. Or just burn the avi or xvid coded files to a DVD and just play them...no internet needed.Read full review
Vizio TV and SteamLink solution
I bought this to fix the problem with SteamLink and Vizio TVs. SteamLinks have an issue with Vizio TVs where they cause the TV to become unresponsive after turning it off. Only unplugging the TV and plugging it back in gets it back. With this Bluray player, you can use the HDMI Input 1 passthrough to connect the SteamLink and it solves the Vizio problem. Better yet, you don't have to turn on the Bluray to play on the SteamLink.

A over all nice compact blu-ray player a + with full web browser.
The Samsung BD-E6500 Blue-ray Player is a easy to use Blu-ray player it loads fast and play all of your different DVDs no matter if it is a standard DVD or a BLU-RAY disk and a easy to use full internet browser I do find that it is much faster and easier to use a wireless mouse or a wireless keyboard for your internet use you can use the remote to browse the internet but I do find that is a bit slower using the remote.
