Don't let Price fool you. Sherwood has been making Quality Electronics since the 1950's. They concentrate on the Pure Power & Sound Aspect. The Heat Sinks are as Good as ANY Mid to Hi-End. Pure Power & Clean Sound is what your going to get. Not a lot of Bells & Whistles... even Old Style L@@KS in comparison to the "Name Brands"... worth Buying and easy Use, without the complications. Really, the only downside is the Speaker Connectors are Snap/Pinch, instead of Banana... but then again it won't take you a Whole Weekend to set-up your Stereo Two Channel(Very Good) or the 5.1 Surround. Compliment with Good Speakers... you won't be disapointed. 4-STARZ
First, let me say that in 2001 when I first bought one of these units(which I still have & which still works just fine) the retail price was $99.97 at Circuit City & I only purchased it for a second system I was putting together for an early version of a man cave. I chose it because no other brand could touch it for the price and features. It had every surround sound format including Dolby Pro Logic 2 which was still fairly new at that time. So, I got it home and decided to use it in my main system since my Onkyo had been damaged in a move. Well, after some difficulty setting up the parameters of the receiver(speaker size, distance from listening area, assignment of digital inputs & so forth) the receiver came to life with a sound that could have been coming from a receiver many times its cost. Although it's not big on extras (Spring clip speaker connectors, no convenience outlets, complicated menu system) if you need a receiver for a small to mid "Old School" home theater, this is the one to get. If it doesn't come with directions, you definitely want to download them because without them, you'll never be able to get all the parameters set up right.Read full review

This is an older model- but it sounds better than my friends Denon, and has more power. I highly recommend the Sherwood line as they seem to have overcome the quality control issues of the past. This reciever says it runs on 200 watts but will pull my massive studio quality speakers easily. I am impressed.
Already have two, but one began to have some optic input issues. This unit was just fine and was as advertised. I am satisfied with the purchase.
