One of Billy Wilder's better examples of his range as a more prolific director in the 1950's. Under scored unjustly by Wilder's weaker scripted "some like it hot", "the apartment" at it's core is a satirical love letter to the wives and flunkys' of those very accurately portrayed egos, you love to hate on TV's "Mad Men" the film carries a strong message about love, bittersweet in it's final symphony.

Lemmon and MacLaine are mesmerizing in Billy Wilder's classic romantic comedy of two fragile people finding love amongst a sea of cynicism and infidelity. A must-have for your film collection!

A film worth discussing. For its time inner-office affairs were taboo, and I can see why it caused a stir. It is a classic film, while dated, it is satisfying entertainment 50 years later. I like it. Wilder knew how to tell a story well. Give it a try.
