This unit would have been a breeze to install except for one thing: the muffler. Installed it by myself by backing my Ram CV van onto a couple oil change ramps and lifting the hitch into position with a floor jack. Unbolted the rear muffler hanger in an attempt to gain some access to the large #12 bolt that must be removed and replaced to attach the hitch, but still almost impossible to get to even with all kinds of wobble and u-joint socket extensions. The hitch is in and looks great, but if I had to do over again I would go one more exhaust hanger forward and unbolt that one to try and pry that muffler out of the way.

Hitch is good quality and value. Delivery ahead of expected. A word of caution when installing on an older (2009 Caravan) vehicle: care to be taken when removing chassis bolts that will be reused as you want to make sure not to snap off these bolts. I talked to a trailer install company and they said they warn customers about this possibility and that if it happens the fix is expensive. New vehicles not a problem. Also a lot easier with a lift .

Installed it on 2012 Grand Caravan. Tip: instructions say to remove a bolt to drop the exhaust. Just so you know, the exhaust only moves a couple of inches so it doesn’t need to be supported when you remove the bolt. Exhaust won’t fall on you. Easy install.

Hitch works great, putting it on was a breeze. I jacked the rear end up and used a motorcycle jack to lift the hitch into place in order to bolt it up. Word of advise, unbolt the two rear most exhaust hangers, loosen the other two. All you’ll need is a 13mm, 15mm, and 18mm 1/2” drive and a 3” and 6” extension, a swivel doesn’t hurt but is not necessary (also a torque wrench, 92 ft/lbs on the 18mm and 53 ft/lbs on the 15mm) it took longer to jack it up then it did to install it. The lower bumper cover does rub on the top of the hitch, but unless you plan to take it off, it’s no big deal. I really like this hitch because it is very low profile, all you see is the square receiver.

A well made product and a good value for the price. My mechanic had trouble aligning it up at first and ended up having to rebend and realign the bar section where it bolts on because it must have been dropped or bent during shipment. And bolt holes did not align with my chassis.
