It is very fast and easy to treat beehives with oxalic acid. It is very light, so it is easy to handle. The only consideration you need to know is you apply oxalic acid mix with Thymol, is when outside is freeze temperature, the bees want to go outside, then die for the cold, that not happend if apply only oxalic acid. With 2 or 3 puff, it reliase a heavy fog of acid in the entire colony and in just 20 seconds. I regret not buy before.

I've used this twice and it seems to work very well. The only issue I've had is when you take off the propane bottle it releases enough gas to ice up and not isolate. I just decided to leave the bottle on. Other than that it works great and is way quicker than the vaporizer I was using before.

Instruction papers are difficult to understand. First attempt to treat bees was a failure. Emailed the company I purchased from. Received an immediate response (Eugene from Florida) saying I probably had the gas valve turned up too high which evaporated the alcohol/oxalic acid solution before it had time to be released into a vapor. Suggested I turn the heat to minimal setting Also said he would help until I was satisfied. Next day I tried again at minimal heat setting and it worked perfectly. Beautiful puffs of oxalic acid vapors. Treated 10-hives in approximately 15-minutes. This is the product to use if treating honeybees for varroa mites. Be sure to purchase one that has American Standard threads to fit propane bottles correctly. This one does. Great product.

I tried using an oxalic acid treatment unit that had a long wand and an aluminum cup on the end. The cup melted and lit the wax on fire in one of my hives. On top of that you have to treat the hive and then block off the entrance for 5 minutes. This propane fogger goes fast and works great.

I really liked the general idea of a propane fogger for varroa management. The speed of the treatments would have really helped even with a limited number of hives. The unit I received had very little control of the torch flame. The valve to control it was extremely sensitive. This made it hard to dial things in with the temperature. The other area of concern was trying to get the desired dose. You have a number of variables that didn't seem consistent enough to give a reliable or expected dose. You use a hydraulic pump that feeds the fluid into the heat coils before it is vaporized. This pump felt inconsistent in the amount that is sprayed. The solution of alcohol + oxalic acid would crystalize shortly after making it. I followed the instructions carefully and never could get a good solution I was confident was delivering a consistent amount of oxalic acid.Read full review
