I love to see Shelley Winters play in almost anything! She was an excellent axtress, but wasn't afraid to have fun with her roles! Debbie Reynolds is a very talented lady in her own right too! Putting them together in a movie was an inspired idea! "What's...Helen" is my favorite of the two movies, but I thoroughly enjoyed them both. I remembered them both from my childhood and wanted to see them as an adult. Like another reviewer said, the last scene in Helen is quite memorable! I'd never forgotten it! "Auntie Roo" movie reviews on other sites tend to paint Winters' character as a mean twisted woman and compares the story to Hansel and Gretel. I disagree overall. I felt a lot of sympathy for Auntie Roo. She definitely had a mental problem but one can understand why when they see the movie. In my opinion, the children are sort of weirder than she is, but judge for yourself! I'm glad I bought this set!Read full review
“Helen” is one of the oddest films in Debbie Reynolds’ career and also one of the more compelling. Dennis Weaver, Agnes Moorhead and Shelley Winters all acquite them selves well in the low budget shocker which has gained a strong following and good reputation since it’s release.

I love this movie!!! My family went and saw it in the theater in the 70s and I remember how shocked I was at the ending. I think I was ten. I was trying to allude to it with a group of friends, who had no idea what I was talking about and I was relieved to find that it had been released on dvd. Agnes Moorehead is spectacular. She was so under-rated in her lifetime, only remembered for "Bewitched," but she was so much more from "Citizen Kane" to this role. Debbie Reynolds is at the top of her game and you can see so much of "Postcards from the Edge" in her. And, Shelley Winters is heart-stopping.
Who doesn't like Debbie Reynolds and Shelly Winters. This is a re-creation of Hollywood in the 30's with music, dancing and murder. It is written by Henry Farrell (Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?) and Agnes Morehead has a surprise appearance. This is great entertainment. Whoever Slew Auntie Roo was made in England a few years later with Shelly Winters and there is a small amount of mystery and suspense. It moves at a slow pace and the ending is poor.
I only wanted to see Debbie Reynolds in What's the matter...she was great in this.
