Changing Communication Preferences (Email and Alerts)

Normally, we send you notifications as soon as anything happens with your account, such as when you get outbid, or when an item has sold. For security reasons, you can't choose not to receive these notifications. You can, however, choose how and when you get other types of notifications.

Set your communication preferences

To set your Communication preferences:

  • Click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages. You may be asked to sign in.

  • Place your  pointer over the Account tab, and then click Communic ation Preferences.

  • To see all of your notification preferences, click the Show all link at the top of the page.

  • Set or change the preferences you want.

Not getting notifications even after you've set your preferences?

Try checking your junk mail folder. You can also find messages by going to My eBay and clicking the Messages tab.

Choose how you're notified

You automatically receive notifications by email at your registered email address. In the Delivery Options section, you can choose whether to receive HTML or text-only email messages.

Tip: To select a different email address for receiving notifications, click the Edit link next to your registered email address.

Getting too much mail from us?

For many types of messages, we let you choose how often you want to be notified.

However, when the Real-time option is gray, this means it's your only option and can't be changed. When Real-time is black, you'll see other options when you click the drop-down menu.
