Setting up automatic payments
For information on payment requirements, late fees, and payment schedules, see Payment processing and due dates.
If you have any credits on your account, they will be applied to your current balance due. If you don't want to apply your credits to your automatic payment amount, you can change your seller billing preferences in My eBay. With this change, any credits applied to your account after we create an invoice will apply to next month's invoice amount.
Paying with PayPal
PayPal is a safe, convenient way to pay your selling fees automatically. When you set up automatic PayPal payments, your fees are deducted from your PayPal account no sooner than 10 days after you receive your invoice.
How automatic PayPal payments work
Changing your PayPal funding source for your selling fees
You can change your PayPal funding source for eBay fees any time. To make sure that the new information is used for an invoice payment, update the account before the end of your billing cycle (either the end of the month or the 15th of the month).
If a payment from your preferred funding source fails, (for example, if your credit card expires), the eBay invoice amount can be paid from other available funding sources.
You can also specify funding sources that you don't want to use for automatic payments from the PayPal My preapproved payments page.
If you need more information about paying with PayPal, contact PayPal Customer Support.
Paying by Pre-Authorized Debit
If you prefer, we'll automatically deduct your selling fees from your chequing account on the same day each month. The day is based on the date you're invoiced. This option is available to sellers who have Canadian bank accounts and are billed in Canadian dollars. If you select this option, you'll need to provide your routing and chequing account numbers.
If you're invoiced in the middle of the month your chequing account will be debited no sooner than the 30th of that month. If you're invoiced at the end of the month your chequing account will be debited no sooner than the 15th of the following month. Learn more about payment due dates.
You can update your chequing account information any time. To make sure that the new information is used to pay your invoices, update your account information at least 2 days before the end of your billing cycle.
Paying by credit card
We accept the following credit cards:
Your credit card is usually charged 5 to 7 days after you receive your invoice.
Prepaid cards can't be used to pay your selling fees.
You can update the credit card on file for automatic payments at any time. To make sure that the new information is used for an invoice payment, update the credit card before the end of your billing cycle.
Changing your payment method
To change your automatic payment method for your next invoice:
Removing payment information from your account
You can remove your automatic payment method at any time.
To remove your payment method information:
You may still accrue fees for any listings you have on the site, as well as monthly fees if you have any active subscriptions such as eBay Stores. Make sure you cancel any subscriptions if you want to close your account.
If you have an outstanding balance, you'll need to make a onetime payment before you can remove your payment information.
Paying for applications for eBay
Applications for eBay are offered by third-party developers and, in some cases, by eBay. When you subscribe to an application, you're subscribing with the application developer, although we facilitate the subscription and use of the application.
Find out how to make payments for applications for eBay directly to the developer of the application. For applications for eBay, PayPal is currently the only payment method available.
