Rather than creating your business policies listing by listing, you can create multiple payment, shipping, and return policies and mix and match them in your listings, depending on what you're selling.
With business policies, you can:
Learn how to make managing your business polices more efficient with some helpful tips.
When business policy management is available to you, you'll see the opt-in placement in the Sell section of My eBay.
You can currently opt out of business policies by clicking the opt out link in the upper right corner of the Manage your business policies page in My eBay > Account > Manage your business polices. If you opt out, the payment, shipping, and return details in your current and scheduled listings aren't affected.
If you've recently created listings, business policies have automatically been created for you to help you get started. You can begin managing your active, scheduled and ended listings immediately with business policies. We recommend that you review and consolidate your business policies before listing a new item—you can edit them any time.
You can create and manage your business policies through My eBay > Account > Manage your business polices or while listing items or revising listings, although some listing tools may not support business policies. If the details in your listing are different from any existing policies, new policies will be created for you. If the details match existing policies, the listing will be associated with those policies.
If you haven't listed an item recently and don't have any policies, before you can complete a listing you'll need to create at least one of each policy type: payment, shipping, and return.
If you sell vehicles (boats, cars, trucks, and motorcycles), there are separate payment and shipping policies for these categories.

Editing business policies
When editing a business policy, all listings that use the policy will be updated with the new information. Keep in mind that there are a few restrictions on revising listings, so it may not be possible to update all your listings with the new policy. All listings that can be updated with the new information will be changed, and listings that can't be edited will use a copy of the policy you just updated, without the updates. We'll add "copy of..." to the title of these policies. For example, if a listing using "shipping policy 1234" can't be updated because there are bids and it has fewer than 12 hours left, the listing will be associated with "copy of shipping policy 1234".
To edit a business policy in My eBay:
You can also edit business policies when listing or revising an item. Keep in mind that any other listings using this policy will also be updated with your edits.
To edit and save a policy in the Sell Your Item form:
Copying a policy is a quick way to create a new policy that is slightly different from one of your existing policies.
To copy a policy:
You can also copy business policies when listing or revising an item by choosing Save as.
Important: You can't have duplicate policies, so copy a policy when you want to create similar, but not identical policies.
You can't delete policies that are used by active listings, scheduled listings, listings with Second Chance Offers, or by Selling Manager Pro templates. To delete these policies, you'll need to reassign new polices to the listings first.
If you're deleting a default policy and have at least 2 other policies of that type, we'll ask you which policy should be your new default. (If you have only one other policy of that type, then it will automatically become your new default.) You can't delete a policy if it's the only one of its type (payment policy, shipping policy, or return policy).
To delete a policy:
Updating listings in bulk
To change policies for multiple listings associated with one policy:
Naming your business policies
If we've created policies for you automatically, it may be helpful to rename them. (To rename a policy in My eBay, select Edit policy from the Action drop-down menu.)
Consolidating your business policies
Before deleting a policy, you'll need to be sure that no active, scheduled or Second Chance Offer listings are using it. If you use Selling Manager Pro templates, make sure they aren't referencing the policy you want to delete.
To see if any listings are using a policy:
Setting default business policies

You can also make a policy the default while creating or editing a policy.

Frequently asked questions
I've just opted in to Business Policies for the first time and I can see existing payment, shipping and returns policies. Where did they come from?
If you haven't opted in to Business Policies, we create payment, shipping and returns policies in the background each time an item is listed for sale. These remain hidden until you opt in, when they become available for you to manage. You'll see a policy for each set of payment, shipping and returns terms that you've used recently.
I have a lot of Business Policies. Is there a way to make them easier to manage?
Yes. Select Clean up policies on the Manage business policies page. If you have any policies that aren't being used in active listings, or haven't been used recently, we'll remove them.
I sell items of different sizes and weights. Is there a way to change the shipping cost without creating a different shipping policy for each size of package?
Yes, you can override the shipping cost for individual listings without creating a different shipping policy. When you create the listing, next to the dropdown box where you select the shipping policy, select Edit shipping cost for this listing only.
Some policies have appeared named "Copy of…", which I didn't create. How did that happen?
If you change one of your payment, shipping or returns policies, we'll update all the items associated with that policy, to use your new terms. However, if the listing is restricted so that it can't be revised, changes to payment, shipping and returns terms won't be allowed. In that case, the restricted listings will stay associated with your original policy, and we'll automatically create a new copy with your changes which will apply to your unrestricted listings.
What happens if I want to opt out of business policies?
You can opt out any time by selecting the Opt out link on the Manage business policies page. Your active listings won't be affected, but if you want to make changes to payment, shipping and returns terms, you'll need to do that individually on each listing in future.
You can also opt back in to Business policies at any time. The policies you've already created will still be there, ready for you to use again.
When I try to opt in to business policies I get an error. What can I do?
Usually this means there are large numbers of business policies created in the background already associated with your account, and our automated processes were not able to clean them up. Please contact our customer services team for help.
