    Donn Beach was the founding father of tiki style, opening the world’s first faux Polynesian-Pop, tropical-style bar in the early 1930’s in Hollywood, CA. In a 25-seat café, located at 1722 N McCadden Pl, owned by bootlegger Ernest Raymond Gantt, “tiki style” was born. Ernest, shortly after, would rename himself Donn Beach, and change the name of his bar to Don the Beachcomber. The rest, they say, is history. Like Donn’s legendary cocktail the Zombie, Don the Beachcomber raises from the dead! Tampa-based 23 Restaurant Services acquires the DTB brand and creates the Don the Beachcomber Advisory Board, which features luminaries such as DTB and Mai Kai historian Tim “Swanky” Glazner, “Book of Tiki” author Sven Kirsten, Smuggler’s Cove owner Martin Cate, bar designer Daniel “Tiki Diablo” Gallardo, tiki mug maker John “Eekum Bookum” Mulder, beverage director Marie King and podcast host and tiki enthusiast Adrian Eustaquio, who lend their experience to the reopening of Don the Beachcomber.
