Excellent point and shoot camers

I used a Canon A700 camera for about 15 years because it had a great combination of features: viewfinder for good photo composition, strong zoom (6X), ergonomic design allows point and shoot using one hand, adequate resolution (6 meg) for enlargements, small size to fit in your pocket. It is an excellent camera for vacation point and shoot use but it has many built-in features for those who wish to get creative.

The Canon A720 represents an upgrade for me. It has all the great features of the A700 plus additional resolution (8 meg) and image stabilization. The latter feature is especially useful when you are using high zooms. It is a shame that none of the current line of Canon cameras has this combination of features so it is good that you can still find A700 series cameras on the used market.

A very good camera for the type.

Works fine it is just a older low mega pixel camera. Had any kind of manual adjustments you can think of. You can set it on full auto point and dhoot if you prefer.

An older camera with good features. Easy to use and learn.

This is an older model that is no longer sold by Canon. We purchased this camera to replace one that we use for underwater photography. The camera arrived well packaged and in excellent shape. It performed perfectly well on our dives.

Being an older camera, the LCD is of lower quality than the one on newer cameras. The pizel count is similarly lower at 7.1 Mpixels. For us the good image quality, large 6x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, and relatively small size made this camera model ideal for underwater photography when we bought our first A710 several years ago. Even the underwater housing by Canon was reasonably priced at less than $200. Replacing our old A710 with one from eBay was the right decision.

Canon A710 IS

Just small enough to fit into a large pocket, this camera is as easy to use as point and shoot, or can be completely manual. It fits well in the hand, reducing those pictures that include your finger. 18 preset functions makes it easy to take pictures in any setting on the fly. Optional lenses, flashes and accessories are available if you wish to take that route. I particularly like the WP6 underwater housing to use while diving, kayaking or anytime you need extra protection from the elements. Image stabilization gives this camera the edge over others in the same price range. Large, clear LCD screen allows preview editing or deleting before you upload into a computer. Overall, this camera allows flexibility, ease of use and takes great pictures. My only drawback is that it does not take pictures in Raw format.Read full review...

Exactly what I wanted at a fair price.

My purchase was very routine and fair. This was to replace the same camera that I had worn out after too much time rattling around in my pocket and briefcase, the old one gave me 15,000 + very good pictures so I wanted the same thing.
The advantages of this camera are the pocket size so it is always with me, image stabilization, using AA batteries so replacements are easily available, long battery life because you can turn off the screen and use the viewfinder, and the controls for shutter speed and aperture priority which is useful in some situations. A SLR can do all of this and more, but won't fit in a pocket.
Newer pocket cameras do not have the option of using a viewfinder, and have special batteries; this is not "progress" to me.
Buying it on eBay worked exactly like it is supposed to.

Compact fit-in-your-pocket camera with great functionality.

Very satisfied with this camera. It takes high quality pictures and the zoom feature works very well for movies as well as photos.

Awesome product; great value for the money

I was introduced to this camera by a friend who's a big eBay seller; he uses it to take pictures of his items for sale.

After playing around with it and also seeing how relatively inexpensive it was on eBay, I bought one for myself; I was not disappointed.

While I must admit it took me over a year-and-a-half to figure out much of the more advanced features, even just using some of the most basic and obvious ones I immediately got really good photos for a camera of this kind; I mean, let's face it; this is NOT a two-thousand dollar Nikon.

I also love that it takes universal AA penlight batteries and not a proprietary battery.

If you've been hesitant about getting your feet wet with a digital camera that works "right out of the box" and think you'll enjoy a great gadget with TONS of features, this camera is for you; it's also very well made with firm, precise and rather heavy-duty controls that just reek of durability.

A great find!

For about the same cost as an estimate on repair of my old Canon A710, I now have it's replacement. The original has taken many great photos in the last ten years, and I'm happy to be able to continue to use the underwater housing that I purchased for scuba and kayaking adventures.Read full review...

A great little camera..

This is a great little camera with fantastic features. I particularly like that it has a viewfinder in addition to the LED screen. This not only can prolong battery life but also allows shooting in bright sun when the LED screen is hard to see. I'd buy it again.Read full review...
