Great AA Battery Video Camera

I am not too fond of devices that use expensive hard to get batteries. Especially cameras. I like this Nikon Coolpix L22 that uses a couple of AA batteries. It gives me about 40 minutes of video recording time which I find to be worth it. Video quality is good. The optical telephoto gives nice enlargements without the picture going grainy. My first L22 lasted about three years, with fairly hard use. I am on my second one right now.Read full review...

Nice camera for every day use

This camera is pretty cool for every day use and does what is expected from it. It comes with software to make really neat panorama shots, it has different modes for different applications, (portraits, landscapes, close-ups etc.) It's pretty easy to figure out and use once you read all the instructions and get it down, and the pictures come out nice as well. The only drawback is probably that it doesn't come with a battery charger, (it uses 2 AA's, rechargable or regular ones) but over all it's a pretty nice gadget for the money. I've had it a few months now, have taken tons of pictures and am satisfied with my purchase. Good camera, the 12 megapixel makes clear detailed pictures. I purchased an extended 2 year warranty with it just in case, but sofar so good.Read full review...

New and improved from the L18

I dropped my Nikon L18 three times on the area where the batteries are housed and the latch broke. Then the camera would not stay closed and the batteries just fell out so I wanted a new one. The L22 has a larger, more crisp preview screen. The "food" option on the menu is welcomed. The features and menu are a little different, but pretty consistent. The pictures are clear and the flash is brighter than the L18. The flash, when taken at a slight angle, is less likely to leave bright white spots on reflective surfaces and is easier to control than the L18. I use the pre-set modes of the camera more than I do the "Easy Auto Mode" and I get clearer pictures with less blur that way. The camera is not guessing what the thing is that you are trying to focus on and whether you want or need flash or not. The camera seems sturdier than the L18 also. For the price, it is just what I was looking for. I still wish the card department was different than where the batteries go, but they lost that option from the older models. Lightweight and compact, 12 MP are great. I recommend this for someone who wants quality at a reasonable price.Read full review...

VERY GOOD SO FAR

I enjoy the smaller size compared to my 1980 model Canon AE-1. It doesn't seem to have the control features that I hoped it would, but I'm early in the process of using this device, so there is probably MUCH to learn given it's from Nikon.

Test photos taken so far have been very good. I'm not going to be using this for any serious photography so it's going to almost perfect for what I plan on using it for.

I do wish it had come with the full instruction manual as a physical book as opposed to a disc. I use a computer all day long at work so I choose not to have one at home. This makes the disc reference cumbersome for me PLUS you can't reference a disc when you're in the field.

Ergonomics as far as shutter placement and function, position of various buttons on the camera body, etc. are excellent. NOTE: if you have large hands and fingers, you may not enjoy using this camera or any other of its size for that matter.

Nikon Coolpix L22...Good But...

Having recently purchased athe Nikon Coolpix L22, I wanted to see exactly what I all the hype is about. The first (and probably one of the most impt.) things I did was look for the Owner Manuel...none to be found. They have elected to supply only a Quick Start Guide which gives you only a limited amount of info as the the features of the camera. Did I want to download the 148 pages?? You sort of have to if you elect to take advantage of all its features. I found that the camera performs very well in pretty much all situations EXCEPT in low light...them you need the downloads to adjust to the proper spec and it's a trial & error to find the right settings. The flash function (auto control) did not always compensate correctly and in many cases was over exposed. After shooting 200 plus photos and putting it through its paces I found that all in all the Coolpix L22 (for the price) was a good reliable camera.Read full review...

Nikon Coolpix L22 12.0 Megapixel Digital Camera

Nice camera for everyday use, very good features.
Previously I had a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS60 that I broke down.
This new camera works well (I make basic use), and can give also video output extension (Avi) with audiio; previous camera instead had a QuickTime output that hadn't worked on my pc.
The two AA stilo batteries are better than lithium ones: if you lose one, or if they broke down it is cheap to buy it again, with lithium batteries it is a problem because afetr two years nobody sells them any more.
For everyday use it is a good choice, for people that need it but don't mindi if it isn't the last model available.

Great little camera, horrible battery / SD card cover design

I love Nikon's L-series cameras and have used and recommended them for years both personally and at work. The zoom is ho-hum, but for what it is (an inexpensive point-and-shoot camera,) it is an awesome product. Its one serious fault and definitely something to be aware of and watch for (and something Nikon should fix asap) is the flimsy cover "door" for batteries / SD card / USB cable access. It breaks - irreversibly - in a heartbeat and almost guaranteed. Since it gives access to all that, one can't avoid opening it frequently, and very soon a miniscule piece of plastic "lock" breaks off and voila, the camera is irreparably broken. Almost all used L-cameras on eBay have this issue - read the fine print and beware! Do NOT believe all the sellers who pass this off as a minor issue fixable with e.g. duct tape or a rubber band or use of a skin. I have tried all this and none of it is a viable fix. Without the door, the batteries don't stay in properly and the camera won't work right for you. I'm currently replacing my 7th digital Nikon... every single one because of this door problem. Be aware if you buy one and treat the little door with kid gloves.Read full review...

Nikon Coolpix L22 12.0 Megapixel Digital Camera

This is a really great little easy to use camera.. It's small, and point and shoot takes nice clear photos. Easy to download and just about everything about it is good good good... One hangup, and I had this same problem with an older Kodak model, they seem to eat batteries, or maybe I just take too many pictures.Read full review...

Nikon Coolpix L22 12.0 Megapixel Digital Camera

This camera has worked very well for my application. I send numerous photos via e-mail to potential customers practically dailey. It is compact and easy to put in my pocket and go. The picture quality has been very good. The reason for purchasing was that my Coolpix L18 8 Megapixel's lense froze in the out position and would not function. It also was a solid camera up to that point but the repair was more expensive than purchasing a new one. I did upgrade to the 12 Megapixel for some added versatility.Read full review...
