The Best Nintendo Handheld (In my opinion anyway)

The GBA is one of my favorite handhelds I've ever played (close second being the PSP) and It's just the best of Nintendo's handhelds.

My absolute favorite parts is that it can play Gameboy and Gameboy Color games along with the Gameboy Advance titles, of which the Gameboy Micro and Nintendo DS can only play Advance games.

Another great thing is the display! The GBA has a nice clear screen, and no ghosting to be seen, in comparison the Nintendo DS (when playing GBA games) seems to have terrible ghosting and the colors are really saturated, though this might just be my device.

Lastly it has a absolutely huge selection of games you can play (mostly thanks to compatibility with the Gameboy and GBC), alot of which are pretty good!

It might be a bit on the pricey side (I heard the 101 is even pricier but I wasn't able to find one) but it's definitely worth the buy. :)

Great gaming system, but overly fragile

This is one of the most epic gaming systems I've used over the years. They still function very well despite their age. I will say that the only real flaw is that this one is extremely fragile due to the flip screen.Read full review...

BRIGHTER SCREEN Game Boy SP Model No.101 instead of 001

Here's a bright idea for those who are looking to purchase one of these great 'lil Nintendo portable gaming systems. This particular Onyx Black Game Boy SP happened to be the earlier Model No. AGS-001 When purchasing either new or used gameboy SP game system be aware & keep in mind that the 101 Model os the Game Boy SP features the same solid design as it's previous 001 model however the 101 model features a much brighter screen for greater viewing & provides an overall better gaming experience compared to the earlier SP model. Model 001 is great but the 101 Model is by far the greatest of the SP consoles Nintendo has released. Definitely worth double checking & looking into & asking the seller which model SP is for sale if the seller hasn't already stated specifically which actual model# Game Boy SP is for sale. If it's a Model No. AGS-001 you have stumbled upon while shopping around for an SP. I would definitely hold off until you can find a Model No. 101 which is the model of choice.Read full review...

Gameboy Advance SP - Onyx

The GBA SP system is an excellent handheld system. It plays both Gameboy color and GB Advance games. I still have my SP even after getting a DS and on occasion will still bust out my SP to kick it oldschool with a GB Color game.

If your looking for a system for a child that tends to break things, right here is your system. Nintendo still releases new games on the SP. In fact, many of the games that are released for the DS have a GBA version as well, not all though.

The SP has a rather extensive library of games all at a reasonable price (something that can't be said for the competition...) that children of ALL ages can enjoy and add to that the fact that you can buy GB Color games for this bad boy and you've just doubled the gaming library. Nintendo doesn't seem to be dropping the SP any time soon, new games keep on coming.

This is a good investment for those who don't want to shell out over a $100 bucks for a DS. Though I'd recommend the DS, the SP is still alive and kicking!

Game Boy Advance SP

This was a First Gen GBA SP, meaning that the Backlight is on a different scale than the Second Gens (mainly because when the light is on a first gen, its like the light is off on the second) though for the first gen, its a plus and a hinderance, because the lighting is off on it, though it saves power, it hinders gameplay in darker areas.

Gameplay is Smoother, And it is Back Compatible, meaning it can play old Gb and GBC games, but its also able to play even older and different games, depending on if you have a flash Cart or not...

I dont want to get ahead of Myself, so i will Just say, Overall, i like the GBASP, for its virsatility, and the easier usage than the former one. the Li-Ion Battery is a good thing, but if you lose the charger you are up a creek so to speak. though you can buy them almost anywhere...

I honestly prefer the Second Gen to the First, for i like how its backlit... otherwise, there is no real difference...

That is all i have to say, hope you find this helpful...

I would recommend to gamers

This system is better than the standard game boy advance. It has a light you can turn on which makes it much easier to play games.It also has a rechargable battery so you don't have to buy 1 million batteries for the thing The link cable I recieved withit can also connect with a Nintendo Game Cube to play games(good for pokemon) I would highly recommend this system, while it is kind of outdated Its still good if you still play GBA games like me. I also recieved 2 of the best games for the GBA Pokemon Sapphire and Emerald. I am a longtime fan of pokemon so this is great.Read full review...

Amazing deal

Pretty much what you'd expect from the pictures the game is 100% legitimate charger and The game boy SP works as intended. I being said though it's been years since I've held one of these it felt smaller than it really is. This part is for people that want to know about Pokemon games for game boy advance if you get a Pokemon game and it's says the battery is running low the time-based events will not function properly that's because game boy cartridges rely on an internal battery that runs out about every 5 10 years you have to get it replaced and that's what I'm going to have to do with it thankfully though the newer ones like Pokemon Ruby and up their save data is different than the old ones if you had to change the battery then you'd lose everything. But the product is exactly as described 100% happy with what I gotRead full review...

Quality buy

A nostalgic hand held device to revisit my childhood. Nearly perfect quality. Mine however does have a battery light problem where it changes from red to green randomly so I can never tell what it's at. Still love it to bits. 9/10Read full review...

Just like the olden days

The nostalgia kicks right back in once you turn these baby’s on. The games that I had as a kid are just as fun as they were back then. The price was there and the quality was just about new with a few scratches on the cover. But the screen was as if new. Best console I have bought in a while not having to worry about if people are online or if my internet is slow. Just charge overnight and play the whole day. Really recommend purchasing this product for your kids and family to show them the real way gaming with a console should be.Read full review...

GameBoy Advanced SP: an oldie but goodie

I'm not an game addicted, mostly I don't spend much time on it, even computer games does not really attract me. Anyway, I had a GB and latter a GB color which used to play from time to time, but got tired of a few annoying limitations: Size, color, lack of back-light etc.

When my son made his 4th birthday I gave my games to him, and he just love it. One day the sunlight was vanishing and I saw him holding too close to eyes. I decided to give a try on a Game Boy Advanced SP just because it had back-light, oh, well, it was cheap also. Anyway It arrived and my son just went mad. He grabbed it and played right away. I had to put up a schedule to prevent him to get his eyes too tired.

One day I was waiting him at school door and decide to play a little... guess what: it was a great console. The highlights:
- The back-light does make difference to the eyes;
- The size is perfect, it is fold-able to be even smaller;
- The sound is better and a little higher than the old GB and GB Color;
- It is back compatible with GB and GB Color;
- The GB Advanced own cartridges are better than GB and GB Color and much faster with better graphics;
- The internal rechargeable battery last a lot and if it dies, just buy a new one at ebay, its cheap, its parctical;
- One can play without battery, just plug the AC adapter;
- Can link-play with another GBAs;
- The cartridges are cheap;
- Very strong build: it's hard to see one to break. It survives my son's lack of ability and care. It's around for years and still theres a great market for used system and cartridges.
- etc

Unfortunately I had no time, but I assure it's a great system. I've already bought a second one to play with my son.

Gameboy Advance SP

I've always been a fan of Nintendo and their Gameboy's. But have you ever tried to play your Gameboy in a dimly lit room? Of course you have. The Advance SP solves this problem with a built-in backlight. Ever had your batteries start dying mid-game? OF COURSE YOU HAVE! We all have, and the SP also solves this issue with a rechargable battery that can also be played while plugged into the wall charging. It's compact, making it easy to carry around. Good outweigh the bad with this Gameboy.

Downsides:
-There is no headphone jack, instead there is a "multi-access port" which works with an AC adapter or a headphone conversion plug.
-It being so compact, playing oldschool Gameboy cartridges is kind of awkward
-The L-R bumpers are fairly small

That's all I can think of! Happy gaming!
