The Song Remains The Same (Blu-ray, 1976)

Very impressed with the picture and sound quality of this landmark film. Not so impressed with the new edits I discovered while watching it.

Newbies may not notice but long-time fans who have watched this film in various ways over the years (including midnight theaters) notice these things. They should've subtitled this "The Uncut Version" or something like that. I give it 5 stars for the quality....not the content. For that I give it a 4.5.Read full review...

Led Zep fans will love it

This is a concert I saw a long time ago and I wanted to relive it. The blu ray it good, but not spectacular as I was expecting. I think they just copied the DVD. But I got it cheap on EBAY, so it was still worthwhile for a Led Zeppelin fan.Read full review...

Real ROCK Revived

Now that Zeppelin's the Song Remains The Same is available on blu-ray disc, it's a chance to upgrade from the VHS release from years ago. Although the original source video is relatively low quality, the engineers went to work to get the most out of what they had to work with and apply modern techniques to bring it to life. Picture quality and sound are noticeably better. It probably would have been just as good on low res DVD, but if your going to take something old and make it new again....go blu-ray.
Rock fans, both young and old, will get a view of some great concert footage, back stage scenes, and vignettes from each of the band members and one from manager Peter Grant as well.
They don't make bands like this anymore.

Better than DVD, best Zep BTS / Live concert synthesis.

The Blu-ray is obviously far superior to the DVD, VHS...etc. in terms of sound quality. I don't know though if the image quality is THAT much superior to DVD. I bought this product as a blu-ray I could throw on during parties for background music and imaging and it works great for mood. The overall concept of the video is great as well with a lot of behind the scenes shots synthesized with amazing live footage. I gave this 4/5 stars because the MSG concert is the only live footage utilized in this video. Ideally, a few other concerts could be thrown in for some classics that are seen online such as Immigrant Song or The Ocean that are seen as highly quality videos on youtube...etc. I would still say its the best Zeppelin encompassing movie out there and there is tons of input by Jimmy Page as seen in credits. Good buy and needed for all Zep fans!Read full review...

The song remains the same - Led Zepplin

I like the group Led Zepplin, I liked the music and the stories behind the days of them being young and playing out. some stories told of some of their life styles- to kinda let you know a little personal stuff about them. The bluray disc made a huge difference also. All and all it was a very good show. Especially if your an ol timer and that was the music you grew up on. greatRead full review...

The Incomparable Led Zeppelin !

I remember seeing this film at a theatre while still a student in high school. It was the 80's and long after the group had broken up. Seeing this again as an adult in Blu-Ray format, on a big screen tv in my own home (with a better sound system, to boot) ... just doesn't get any better than that.

Recommended for any hardcore Led Zeppelin fan.

If you're a fan, go for it.

Terrific look at Led Zeppelin in the early/mid 70's. If you're a fan I highly recommend it. Some of the video is pretty low quality but it's mixed in and works well with the better material.

Best Live Surround Ever!!!!

I will always, always dream about what Zeppelins studio recordings would have been like in Multichannel, which was once planned to come about…oh well, we do have 3 different LIVE Zeppelin releases on Blu Ray Audio, this one, Celebration Day, and How The West Was Won and they are all wonderful examples, the best actually, of how great a well done live surround mix can be…and yes I do believe the picture, sound and even cleaner panning are on this release, versus the DVD release. Also it simply will look better on larger size screens and the soundtrack is more or less as perfect as it can ever be. A stunning performance with Dazed And Confused owning the night…Read full review...

Mesmerizing!

My first experience seeing this was in a midnight showing in the late 70's. Since then I've probably seen the show around 30 times between the midnight movies then buying the laserdisc version in the 90's. I skipped buying the DVD version but when I saw this Blue-Ray all I can say is awesome. I had two TV's side by side so was able able to play the Laserdisc and the Blue-Ray versions simultaneously. Not only was there added footage from the original cut but the sound and video quality had me watching this version as if I'd never seen it before. I would recommend this Blue-Ray to any rock and roll fan not only for historical value but the performance and quality of musicianship is outstanding.Read full review...

Classic

This is true Led Zeppelin at it's finest. The wife loves watching Robert strut his stuff. Me - it's all about the music. This is a must for all original rock and rollers!
