Install new brushes now, and avoid trouble down the road.
Get a genuine set of correct Honda brushes for your starter motor, and take the time to remove, clean, and lube your starter before you start the riding season, and save yourself a lot of headaches and expensive fixes at dealers repair shops. Most of the issues with these good old Honda starters are old carbon dust from the worn out brushes, causing shorts inside the case and slow down your starter. Open the cases (2 screws) blow out all the carbon dust, clean the commutator with 600 grit wet n dry sandpaper, (be sure and clean dust out from between the "contact segments" on the armature, regrease the gears, and replace the brushes. With any luck you'll never have to worry about your electric starter again, and it will work like new!Read full review...
