Brave - An Animated Treasure!

Every time Pixar releases a new, animated feature film, the bar just gets raised higher. Brave tells the story of a rebellious teenaged Scottish princess Merida and the life lessons she learns. There is an enveloping mixture, of action, mystery, humor and magic that would make Walt Disney proud. Great voice overs from Kelly McDonald (Boardwalk Empire), Emma Thompson, and Billy Connelly. I would suggest watching the extras first, seeing the efforts of the Pixar crew in visiting Scotland and the feeling and emphasis they put into the production. A decent film, is a misfire for Pixar

After the 2011 Pixar misfire with "Cars 2" I had expected for Brave to be much better.

Only better by a little Not anywhere near Pixar's USED TO BE great story telling, characters, etc.
>You follow the story then you go into this weird story line that true you did NOT see coming BUT just went south from there.

No spoiler alerts although I will say it had to do with Oscar winner Emma Thompson's Queen Elinor.

For a 5 disc set, this SHOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER. I always look for extras like "Making Of" on Disney/Pixar films. NONE here, there are plenty of extras but none of real interest to me.

They made a new Disney Princess that just stands out because of her appearance, the red hair. If you want to go to a GOOD liberated Disney Princess look at 1992's "Aladdin" for Princess Jasmine.

It is a good film but NOT up to usual Pixar stands. If you want extras on your blu rays you got them but for me just not the type I want.Read full review...

a great movie for the kids and adults

"brave" is a beautifully animated movie. even with cars 2 the pixar crew created dazzling visuals so it's not surprising that brave is a feast for the eyes. directors mark andrews, brenda chapman and steve prucell make sure that everything from merida's flowing red hair to the fish swimming in a rocky scottish river are luxuriously rich in detail.

this is a great movie and it is a better movie than cars 2. the animators did a great job. especially if you get this movie on blu ray. the kids will really love this movie.Read full review...

Disney's storytelling comes to life in stunning 3D.

Well, I'm not a movie critic, but I like great storytelling. The 3D effects in this video are the best that I have seen. I haven't been viewing 3D movies for very long but some of the effects are stunning. Disney has a keeper with this one. Would highly recommend it to anyone. Watching was a pleasure

Merida is a force of her own in this quality Pixar production. The story line pulls at the heart strings. Her triplet brothers lend fun to an otherwise styled story for the times. Tribal chicanery of the four fathers presenting there prized off-spring takes you back to the probable rivalry of such circumstances. Merida's Fiery Hair and character brings credence to the origin of the story. One of the better Pixar productions right up there with Tangled IMO.
