Great walk around lens for Nikon D200 or one with internal motor drive

The first thing I did with this A18 Tamron AF 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom Lens was to try it on my D3100. It wouldn't autofocus. Of course, this model of the lens does not come with VR or a motor built into the lens. Therefore, make sure you have the appropriate Nikon DSLR. I hesitated to rate the lens until I matched it up with my D200.

Indoors without a flash, from wide to zoom I was satisfied with the responsiveness of the lens. Make sure you study the tips and techniques for your Nikon DSLR. I brushed up on D200 basics from Ken Rockwell. I shot RAW and even without Photoshop or GIMP I saw enough to merit a good rating for the types of mass shooting I do at special events. I normally carry an 18-70mm Nikkor and 55-200 to switch between. With this lens one unit does all that.

I do rely on Photoshop or GIMP, as well as PortraitPro for fine tuning every shot post shoot. I get the same results as with the two previous lenses.Read full review...
