a very cool analog chorus

This little guy really surprised me. It has a very smooth and natural effect over the signal, it keeps your dynamics almost intact, it doesnt over staurates the tone even at max levels of depth and in general it doesnt thin the tone that much, which is a very nice feature specially for modulation effects. The additional thru output is a really cool feature (almost standard now a days) if u need some effect loops. As long as I understand this pedal is buffered bypass which some purists tend to depreciate but I find it very useful and sometimes even better than hipped true bypass, again specially for modulation effects, I have not hear significant tone loss or "coloring" whit this pedal. As I said at the beginning, this pedal is more in the type of "smooth" action over the tone, even at max control positions which is perfectly fine if you need to add elegant and maybe "always on" chorus effect to your tone. If you need more drastic or significant modulated effect over your tone, this might not be the best option, I would look instead into the keeley seafom for example, with the obvious price range differences of course. My only concern with this little guy is the fact that the low-high cut controls are not very responsive at all, and so you do not get significant tone variations with it according to my first impressions, but apart from that is an excellent pedal for the price.Read full review...

wasn't crazy about it

I can't give a very detailed review of the MXR since I have limited experience with overdrive pedals but to me it didn't really distinguish itself. The tone was ok but nothing to write home about, as they say. I bought it out of curiosity since it is an older pedal. To use an Ibanez Tube screamer as a reference point, I would say this probably has a little more gain available but the tone just didn't grab me for some reason.Read full review...

Love the MXR Dunlop products......

I rarely give a 5 star rating only because few items are that perfect. I found this chorus pedal to be outstanding and a notch better than my boss ch-1. Probably a matter of taste! I use it with my acoustic more so than my electric to get a "12 string like" effect. The operation of MXR pedals are very simple and I prefer the footswitch mechanism over the boss pedals. This pedal utilizes the famed 60's bucket brigade chip and has a beautiful warm analog tone. I do recommend this pedal for at least a trial prior to deciding for yourself. This pedal is both smaller and lighter than others, yet still built like a tank and hence takes less space on a board. I must say, however, that I don't like the input jack on the side of the pedal. It's a bit harder to access with a 1 spot power pack set up!! Do your due diligence prior to buying!Read full review...

A very useful tool with more adjustability than most effects pedals.

What a great chorus! This something I've been seeking: a nice
sounding chorus, with some EQ and a level control. Sometimes,
less is more and when you can get a nice sound without too much effect,it makes for a very useful tone and doesn't sound over the top. The size of the pedal is perfect for saving pedal board real estate and one can get tones from very slight chorus to the warble similar to a Leslie.Read full review...

warm analog chorus

I owned seveal chorus pedals over the years, 10 to be exact. Of the 10 chorus pedals 5 of them were analog. On an endless quest for tone this pedal is my most current analog chorus pedal. Very natural sounding, good eq options. It would be better if it whas stereo but that in no way is a reason to not get one. For only $100 it is a good value. The MXR Micro Chours is about $20 cheaper but with only one knob, you are limited to how much you can tweek the sound.Read full review...

Take your time to play around with this pedal. The low and high cut knobs are a great addition once you get the go of it.
