AMD FS1 (Version 2) CPU, excellent Quad core CPU, Runs cool with air fan, Very fast, excellent GPU built into CPU!

Excellent CPU, very fast compared to OEM A8-4000 level. Makes the GPU and the Memory card faster as well as the CPU itself. The HP Pavilion 17 supports the FS1 (Version 2) CPU Socket. Hint: even though the pinout is identical, the FS1 (version 2) CPU will not work in a FS1 (Version 1) socket as the chipset does not know how to handle the different CPU signalling on the same CPU pins. To be clear - an A-8 4500 or 5500 WILL NOT work in a HP dv-6135 even though the CPU fits in the socket. Only an A-8 3500 or older CPU will work. Conversely, an A-8 3500 WILL NOT work in a HP Pavilion 17 but the A-8 4500 and the A-8 5500 will work. It is neither easy or hard to Install. It takes about 1 to 5 hours to completely disassemble laptop and Remove and Replace CPU and reassemble Laptop. After having to reinstall, CPU 5 times from a series of errors during reassembly, I am an expert at taking laptop apart and reassembling. Current time to tear down laptop, R and R CPU, and reassemble laptop is down to 30 minutes.Read full review

Great upgrade from dual core cpu in supported laptops!

Old quad core cpu for old dual core laptop. The upgrade is big when dealing with windows 10, the extra 2 cores really improves everything. Nearly all system/app stuttering when dealing with a lot of programs is gone. It's great that it was cheap too, but be sure your laptop can support this or any other cpu change. I had to look up the service manual and website for my laptop to be sure of what cpus were supported, and this one was a good choice for my laptop's configuration. Installation varies from laptop to laptop so find and keep that service manual handy to help with disassembly. No need for a brand new laptop when my old one just needed a little work.Read full review

I used it for a motherboard designed for a HP Pavilion 17-e119wm. Two hours later and a shut down motherboard stopped. I will try to use again but with the motherboard it is native for.
