A Snapshot In Time!

This collection of concert footage is an excellent snapshot of the Stones while in their top form. Although it suffers from the technical limitations of the day, it does show the band in a "raw energy" mode. It's a lot like seeing the Stones in a Bar where the stage isn't well lit. It's a great piece of history, especially if you're a fan of Mick Taylor's excellent guitar playing. This concert is indicative of the fact that Kieth Richards may be one of the world's greatest rhythm guitar players & without a doubt a highly under rated groove master. Bill & Charlie are as tight a section as you could wish for and Mick is as always, his own classic performer. A couple of downsides. (1) We don't get much of the horn section or keyboard player & (2) Mick Taylor looks like he just lost his best friend most of the time. His playing is faultless but he just doesn't seem to be having any fun. All in all, I'm happy to own it & I'm glad I waited for the remaster instead of snaring one of the earlier copies. Highly Recommended!Read full review...

a classic must-have

I have been a Rolling Stones fan since I can remember, and one of the first bands I was intriqued by in the early seventie's, when I was a mere five year old.

The first time viewing this live concert movie, I thought that, because of all the hype about the Stones being rather sloppy during the time period, I thought that there were some missed cues, some verse's that were not done correctly. But still, what stood out were some of their more countryfied tunes - Dead Flowers, Tumbling Dice, and SWeet Virginia.

The second time I watched this concert movie, I became as intriuged as I had way, way back. So I decided to take it over to my fellow musician's house and watch it again. Now it all kicked in:

They were "tight", and that is just a very short way of giving a back-handed compliment. However, in this case, no, it is true - in this flim the Stones are dead-on, all the arrangements are correct and the band really has it going.

Perhaps most astounding is the total lack of commercialism and extravegant lighting. It is dark, gritty, the camera work is totally unpretentious and wayward. But this is what, in my mind, truly captures the essence of any performance, whether it be by a politician, a comedian, or the Greatest Rock Band in the World, on the verge of succumbing the reins to the up-and-coming "younger" generation's bands.

In the end, as usual, you always get the feeling that The Rolling Stones give you your money's worth. What an accomplishment to be able to convey that feeling via a DVD released almost forty years after the fact.

Classic Story as on top of their game!!

There was a time when the Stones hit the stage. The act was compelling, the music was tight and everything was right. Ladies and Gentleman the Rolling Stone captures that time perfectly. With a great selection of music from the Stones most creative period. If you had to pick one, just one Stones concert video. This is the one to own. Mick Taylor who replaced Brian Jones shows why he was selected. He plays off Keith and they mesh. It is a wonder to watch. This is as close to the original Rolling Stones as you are going to get and it demonstrates why they were called the greatest rock and roll band in the world!Read full review...

The all time best concert movie from the all time best Rock n Roll band

This is a historic concert movie like Woodstock, but even better because it is the worlds greatest rock n roll band at their very best, with the raw rocking guitars sounds of Richards, and Taylor.Cool Bill Wyman in the background strumming the beat with his bass as Charlie Watts beats the drumms to a howling voice of the slickest most exciting front man in any band Mick Jagger. I use to go see this every chance that I would get, usually at the Midnight Cinemaback in the 70's to party in the theater and watch this concert movie. Now I finally own it. Along with The Song Remains The Same this is my all time favorite concert movie that I can just listen to the music without watching it, and fade deeply into the tunes that still to this date hipnotize me as they did then some thirty years ago. Ladies & Gentlemen is the best from the best!Read full review...

It's about time

This concert film has been out of circulation for a very long time. I saw the original film in a theater when it was first released back in the early '70's.

It's a straight up concert shoot, culled from a few different performances.

If you want to hear great musicians, playing their most enduring songs when they first wrote and began to perform them then look no further.
